AnnihilusUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Annihilus’ chitinous exoskeleton renders him superhumanly strong and durable. He can survive in space for up to a year via efficient energy and oxygen conversion and storage. Upon physical death, Annihilus spawns immature clones of himself that retain his memories. He can fly at 150 mph.

Equipment: Annihilus wields the Cosmic Control Rod, which houses the essence of the Tyannan starship’s stardrive. Cybernetic micro-circuitry allows Annihilus to harness its vast cosmic energy, firing destructive energy beams or restructuring matter. The Rod’s energy retards his ageing, and he rapidly weakens without it. He has also used a rejuvenation chamber to restore his withered body. Annihilus has wielded secondary weapons and vehicles, such as energy pistols and flying tank-like gun ships, adapted from the Tyannan starship. His body armaments can fire powerful plasma bolts.

Nemeses: The Fantastic Four

ApocalypseUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Apocalypse’s full extent of powers remain to be revealed, especially to the extent of which powers have since been augmented by alien technology. Apocalypse claims to have control of his body on the molecular level -- allowing him to shape change and elongate with virtually unlimited range, to increase density and allow his body to mimic metals and armors, to teleport, and to be virtually immune to the effects of age. Apocalypse can also increase his strength to levels surpassing that of the Hulk, grow to giant sizes, and gain the power of flight, sometimes through turning his arms into wings or jets. Apocalypse can also transform himself into a variety of human disguises. He has exhibited energy absorbing and projecting abilities in the past. Apocalypse has been termed an “External,” due to his mutant ability of immortality. Briefly, Apocalypse has shown potential to be a powerful psionic.

Nemesis: X-Men

Bane Universe: DC

Powers: Bane is highly intelligent. In prison, he taught himself various scientific disciplines equal to the level of understanding of leading experts in those fields. He knows six active languages and at least two additional arcane and dead ones. He is also highly devious and a superb strategist and tactician. In prison, Bane also invented his own form of calisthenics, meditation, and a fighting style that he uses against other well-known martial arts fighters within the DC Universe. Usage of Venom enhances his physical abilities, including his strength and healing process, to superhuman levels.

Nemesis: Batman

Page 6: Supervillains E-Guide

6

BlackheartUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Blackheart can regenerate from most physical harm; levitate; extra-dimensional teleportation; change the size and physical form of himself and willing others; generate concussive blasts of black energy; and survive without food, water, or sleep. Though he can assume human form, Blackheart usually appears as a black spine-covered humanoid with a long tail. He smells unpleasantly of burning ink and roses, and has no discernible heartbeat. He likely possesses further unrevealed abilities.

Nemeses: Ghost Rider, Daredevil

Page 7: Supervillains E-Guide

7

CarnageUniverse: Marvel

Powers: As the symbiote offspring of the Venom symbiote, the Carnage symbiote possesses a variety of symbiote-based powers akin to Venom, which it generally bestows upon Cletus Kasady. Carnage possesses super-human strength, speed, stamina, healing and resistance to injury. He is originally able to lift (press) 50 tons (currently 90 tons).

Carnage can stick to walls, create “swing lines” or “tendrils” which he uses for traveling in a manner similar to how Spider-Man uses webbing and generate “snares” to trap or entangle foes. However, unlike Venom, he is able to create detachable weapons made entirely from his symbiotes. The symbiote can protect Kasady from bullets from small-arms weapons. The symbiote can mimic any type of clothing, but unlike Venom, it has not been capable of Venom’s chameleon-like ability to act as camouflage. Carnage is able to deaden Spider-Man’s spider-sense to a certain degree, and block the Venom symbiote’s natural ability to track its own offspring. It is vulnerable to sonics and heat.

Nemesis: Spiderman

The Dark PhoenixUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Jean Grey possessed telepathic powers enabling her to read minds, project her thoughts into the minds of others, initiate astral travel, and mentally stun opponents with pure psionic force, among other talents. She also possessed telekinesis, allowing her to levitate and manipulate objects and others, generate force fields, fly, and stimulate heat molecules to generate concussive blasts. Her powers were magnified to near-infinite levels while she served as an avatar for the cosmic Phoenix Force. She was able to manipulate matter and energy on a molecular scale, although this varied on the Force’s status and how much power it chose to allocate to her.

Nemeses: The X-Men, Shi’ar Empire

DarkseidUniverse: DC

Powers: Darkseid is among the most powerful of the New Gods. His main power, the Omega Beam, is a form of energy that he fires from his eyes as either a concussive force or disintegrating energy, capable of transmuting or erasing living objects and organisms from existence as well as resurrecting them, depending on the dark lord’s will. He can teleport himself or others through time and space.

Darkseid is a being whose strength and invulnerability can only be challenged by the likes of Superman, Doomsday, and Orion.

He also can increase his physical size. Darkseid has the powers of telepathy and telekinesis and can create psionic avatars. As Darkseid is a god he is also immortal, having lived for several hundred thousand years. In Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, and Justice League: War, Darkseid has also shown the powers of flight.

Nemeses: Superman, Justice League of America

Page 10: Supervillains E-Guide

10

DoomsdayUniverse: DC

Powers: Doomsday has a highly accelerated healing factor that allows him to quickly regenerate from most damage.

Doomsday is immensely resistant to heat, cold, and conventional damage, allowing him to survive in the most inhospitable worlds, or in the vacuum of space. His superhuman endurance and invulnerability were able to withstand Darkseid’s full-powered “Omega Effect” without any apparent damage.

Doomsday possessed extreme superhuman strength that, variable as it was, at one point enabled him to effortlessly stand his ground against the entire Justice League, including Superman and Orion.

During his confrontation with Steel, Doomsday spontaneously developed the power of flight, and the ability to cover his body with metallic armor, capable of resisting even Steel’s paralysing nanites.

Nemeses: Superman, JLA

Dr DoomUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Doom can exchange minds with others. He possesses some mystical abilities, such as casting bolts of eldritch energy and invoking mystical entities (principalities) for additional support. While empowered by the Haazareth, his mystical powers were on a par with those of Dr. Strange.

Doom is a genius in physics, robotics, cybernetics, genetics, weapons technology, bio-chemistry, and time travel. He is also self-taught in the mystic arts. Doom is a natural leader, a brilliant strategist, and a sly deceiver.

Weapons: Doom wears a sophisticated nuclear-powered titanium battlesuit which grants him superhuman strength, contains jets for flight, houses a personal force field, and discharges concussive force blasts; he can also electrify his armor’s surface.

Nemeses: Fantastic Four, Spiderman

Page 12: Supervillains E-Guide

12

GalactusUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Galactus possesses cosmic power beyond most forms of measurement (The Power Cosmic). He can levitate; restructure molecules; convert matter into energy and vice-versa; project energy with enormous concussive force; teleport himself, others, and objects across space, dimensions, and time; erect virtually impenetrable fields; restore others from any injury, even total disintegration; and endow or enhance powers within others. Even his heralds, imbued with the smallest fraction of his power, can manipulate matter and energy far beyond human comprehension. Though he generally avoids physical conflict, Galactus can bolster his own strength beyond any known system of measure. Galactus is telepathic. In addition, despite being a physical being, Galactus can adopt a manifestation from the Dimension of Manifestations in order to commune with abstract beings.

Weapons: Galactus has large stores of powerful and advanced technology.

Nemesis: The Fantastic Four

13

Lex LuthorUniverse: DC

Powers: Lex Luthor has the physical capabilities and limitations of a normal adult with no metahuman abilities. However, he possesses a genius level of intelligence. For virtually his entire publication history, he has been depicted as the most intelligent human in the DC Universe, and as one of the most intelligent beings of any planet or species.

He has mastered seemingly every known form of science, including space travel, extra-dimensional travel, biochemistry, robotics, computers, synthetic polymers, communications, mutations, transportation, holography, energy generation, spectral analysis, and more. With the exception of the extraterrestrial entity known as Brainiac, he does not view any other being as an intellectual peer.

Weapons: Over the years, Luthor has made liberal use of Kryptonite weapons capable of injuring Superman and other Kryptonians. Since the Bronze Age, he has also utilized various battlesuits in many stories.

Nemesis: Superman

14

LokiUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Loki possesses physical abilities far superior to humans, an increased lifespan, superhuman strength (able to lift up to 50 tons), immune to terrestrial diseases, and resistant to conventional injury.

Loki is perhaps the most powerful sorcerer in all of Asgard. His many magical abilities included shape-shifting, astral projection, molecular rearrangement, eldritch energy blasts, illusion casting, flight (via levitation), telepathy, hypnosis, and teleportation.

Loki is immune to most physical injury, and can reattach severed body parts, including his own head. Loki can mystically imbue objects or beings with specific but temporary powers, and enhance the powers of superhumans. Loki can also magically create rifts between dimensions, allowing him or other objects passage from one universe to another.

Nemeses: The Avengers, Thor

15

M.O.D.O.KUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Fantastic psionic abilities and superhuman calculating ability. Can form force field barriers effective against energy attacks, mentally produce heat and mental blasts of pure psionic energy, probe the minds of others, and recall any fact he has ever known. He can also convert himself into raw data and travel in the form of e-mail.

Equipment: Headband to help focus his power and control the hover-chair to which he is confined. The chair flies/hovers at moderate speeds and contains various advanced weaponry. MODOK has employed in the past a giant robotic body proportionate to his monstrous head, and it is superhumanly strong and resistant to most forms of attack.

Nemeses: Captain America, The Hulk

Page 16: Supervillains E-Guide

16

MagnetoUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Magneto possesses the power to control all forms of magnetism. He can shape and manipulate magnetic fields that exist naturally or artificially. Magneto’s power is, for all practical purposes, limitless. Moreover, he can use his magnetic powers in more than one way simultaneously. He can completely assemble a complicated machine within seconds through his powers. He can erect magnetic force fields with a high degree of impenetrability around himself for protection. Although Magneto’s primary power is control over magnetism, he can also project or manipulate any form of energy that is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, including visible light, radio waves, ultraviolet light, gamma rays, and x-rays.

Equipment: Magneto’s helmet is designed to prevent telepathic intrusion or psionic attacks. Magneto has designed such creations as magnetically-powered craft, complex robots and computers, and magnetically-powered generators.

Nemesis: X-Men

Page 17: Supervillains E-Guide

17

MephistoUniverse: Marvel

Powers: An immensely powerful supernatural entity, Mephisto wields mystical energy for effects such as force blasts, matter manipulation, astral projection, interdimensional portals, illusion-casting and shape-shifting (his true form is unknown). Mephisto can capture the souls of recently deceased humans, though this usually applies only to beings who bargain away their souls to him. Mephisto can mystically trap living beings in his realm, but he cannot feed off these beings and rarely chooses to do this. A portion of his power seems to be tied to his realm and the number of souls trapped within it, meaning that prolonged absences from Hades weaken him. Mephisto does not need to eat, sleep or breathe, and is immune to aging and conventional disease.

Page 18: Supervillains E-Guide

18

Mr SinisterUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Following genetic alteration by Apocalypse, Sinister possesses enhanced durability and an extended lifespan. Over the years, Sinister has used the genetic material of other mutants to grant himself a vast array of powers including telepathy, telekinesis, superhuman strength, the ability to project concussive energy from his hands, and total control of his body at the molecular level.

Sinister is a genius geneticist, a brilliant biologist, and a skilled surgeon who is well practiced in the science of cloning.

Nemesis: X-Men

Page 19: Supervillains E-Guide

19

MystiqueUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Mystique can psionically shift the atoms of her body to duplicate any humanoid of either sex, wearing any kind of clothing. She can precisely duplicate another person’s retina pattern, finger, palm and skin-pore patterns, and vocal cords. She can increase her volume, but not her mass. Mystique’s power grants her age retardation, increased healing, and immunity to drugs and poisons.

Mystique is a highly skilled combatant, actress, marksman, and strategist in terrorist and commando operations.

Nemesis: X-Men

Omega RedUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Omega Red is a mutant with the ability to secrete bodily pheromones deadly to anyone in his immediate vicinity. This power greatly drains his energy, requiring him to absorb the life force of others. Omega Red was also granted superhuman strength from a KGB enhancement.

Omega Red is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant with extensive KGB training, and is fluent in Russian and English.

Weapons: Omega Red’s arms were implanted with long Carbonadium coils that he can extend and retract through openings in the undersides of his wrists. The coils serve as both conduit and stabilizing factor for his mutant pheromones.

Nemeses: X-Men, Iron Man

Page 21: Supervillains E-Guide

21

OnslaughtUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Onslaught possessed the combined abilities of Professor X, Magneto, Franklin Richards, and X-Man, including telepathy, telekinesis, astral projection, illusion creation, mental bolt projection, sensing mutant presences, manipulating magnetic fields, and affecting reality itself. Onslaught could also enhance its physical size and strength.

Nemesis: X-Men

Page 22: Supervillains E-Guide

22

ParallaxUniverse: DC

Powers: Parallax has immense fear-casting and mind-control powers, strong enough to easily frighten and control the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and even someone like Spectre, except those who are capable of understanding and conquering inner fear such as Hal Jordan or Batman. Strangely, it was unable to control Alan Scott even though he experienced fear from Parallax (Abin Sur explains that in humans fear is intellectual, which may have something to do with the ineffectuality of Parallax’s powers and the fear entity itself mentioned that Alan’s power differs from the fear entity, the Guardians, and the Green Lantern Corps as they derive their powers from emotional spectra), although he did experience a fever which led him to increasingly weaken during Parallax’s attempts.

It can take possession of someone’s body when they feel even the slightest fear. Parallax is also capable of creating solid light constructs, such as creating a convincing duplicate of Sinestro for Hal Jordan to kill.

Nemesis: Green Lantern

Page 23: Supervillains E-Guide

23

PyroUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Pyro was a mutant with the psionic ability to cause any fire he could see within a 100-yard radius of himself to grow in size and intensity and to take on any form that he could imagine, even living creatures. Pyro could then mentally direct a creation to do anything he wished by concentrating, the degree necessary being directly proportionate to the size, power, and intensity of the creation. Pyro was unable to create fire himself.

Weapons: Pyro wore a kerosene-based flame-thrower on his back that could generate a stream of flame of up to 25 feet away. Pyro also wore a specially insulated costume that afforded him a certain degree of protection against fires he did not control.

Nemesis: X-Men

Page 24: Supervillains E-Guide

24

QuicksilverUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Quicksilver possessed superhuman speed, and could travel on foot at speeds exceeding the speed of sound for hundreds of miles before tiring; he could “fly” for short distances by flapping his arms or “vibrating” his legs; he could also use his speed to create cyclones, dodge machine gun and laser fire, and run up walls and across water. When the High Evolutionary’s Isotope E upgraded his powers, he did not know the true limits of his speed.

Following the loss of his mutant nature, Quicksilver exposed himself to the Terrigen Mists, resulting in him now possessing the power to vibrate his atoms so quickly he travels forward in time. His molecular speed that he generates displaces him out of the mainstream time/space so that he is able to propel himself into the future. He can leap from thirty seconds to up to twelve days, and remain for several minutes to several hours before being recalled to his present time once his body tires, or he can return at will before his time is up.

Nemesis: X-Factor

Page 25: Supervillains E-Guide

25

Ra’s al GhulUniverse: DC

Powers: Due to his expanded life span, Ra’s has accumulated a vast knowledge of hand-to-hand combat, chemistry, detective artistry, physics, and martial arts (all of which rival that of Batman). He has also gained many international contacts and a vast fortune, gained over centuries. When in combat, he favors more ancient weaponry (as he has had more time to utilize them than more modern weaponry). These weapons include scimitars, katanas, bolas, throwing stars (shurikens), smoke pellets, and miniaturized explosives. Ra’s is also assisted by his devoted, musclebound servant Ubu.

Ra’s’ greatest tools are his Lazarus Pits, which will heal him of any injury (even if he is recently dead) while restoring him back to his prime of life. His constant exposure to the pits has granted him slightly enhanced endurance, strength, and healing but also comes with the price of a gradual onset of insanity if overused.

Nemesis: Batman

Page 26: Supervillains E-Guide

26

Red SkullUniverse: Marvel

Powers: The Red Skull is a fine unarmed combatant, marksman and master of disguise. He possesses a keen mind at military, political, corporate and subversive strategies.

Weapons: The Red Skull’s most infamous weapon was his so-called “dust of death.” The chemical composition of this powder is unknown, but it kills a victim within seconds of making contact with the victim’s skin, causing the skin on the victim’s head to tighten, shrivel, and take on a red discoloration, while causing all the hair on the victim’s head to fall out. As a result, the victim’s corpse appears to have a “red skull” for a head. The Red Skull usually conceals this weapon within his cigarette holder or a specially modified handgun. He has wielded sophisticated side arms, including laser beam weapons.

Nemesis: Captain America

Page 27: Supervillains E-Guide

27

Super-SkrullUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Super-Skrull has been genetically altered to possess all the powers of the Fantastic Four. As such, he can elongate any part of his body, emit and control flames, use his control over flame to fly, become invisible, form invisible force fields, possess superhuman strength, and transform into a rocky hide/body armor. He is also capable of hypnosis.

As a Skrull, Kl’rt is able to transform his body into any shape he wishes. Kl’rt is a trained soldier and commander in the Skrull army.

Nemesis: Fantastic Four

Page 28: Supervillains E-Guide

28

ThanosUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Thanos possesses the superhuman physiology of all Eternals, granting him superhuman strength, endurance, reflexes, and agility. His skin in nearly invulnerable, particulary against heat, cold, electricity, radiation, toxins, aging, and disease, and he can survive indefinitely without food or water even before his “curse” from Death left him immortal, unable to die. His mind is also invulnerable to most forms of psychic attack, and can project a psionic blast of energy as well as blasts of plasma/cosmic energy from his eyes and hands.

Equipment: He has at times employed a hovering chair with additional offensive weapons and the ability to teleport galaxy-wide distances.

Page 29: Supervillains E-Guide

29

The Anti-MonitorUniverse: DC

Powers: Anti-Monitor was one of the most formidable foes ever faced by the heroes of the DC Universe. He is directly responsible for more deaths than any other known DC supervillain, having destroyed thousands of Universes. He consumed thousands of positive-matter universes to increase his power, and was able to personally battle scores of the multiverse’s strongest heroes simultaneously.

In addition to possessing vast size (varying from about nine feet, to hundreds of meters tall), superhuman strength, extraordinary durability, the ability to project destructive bolts of energy, and greatly augmenting another beings’ powers, the Anti-Monitor also possessed reality-warping abilities. By far, his most devastating power was the ability to absorb the energies of his surroundings into himself, once he fused with his antimatter universe, he went even as far as absorbing the energies of entire universes. The Anti-Monitor is not immortal, but may be ultimately indestructible so long as the anti-matter universe exists.

Nemeses: Superman, JLA

Page 30: Supervillains E-Guide

30

The JokerUniverse: DC

Powers: The Joker has no inherent superhuman abilities. He commits crimes with a variety of weaponized thematic props such as a deck of razor-tipped playing cards, rolling marbles, Jack-in-the-boxes with unpleasant surprises and exploding cigars capable of leveling a building. The flower in his lapel sprays acid, and his hand often holds a lethal joy buzzer conducting a million volts of electricity.

However, his chemical genius provides his most-notable weapon: Joker Venom, a liquid or gaseous toxin which sends its targets into fits of uncontrollable laughter; higher doses can lead to paralysis, coma or death, leaving its victim with a ghoulish, pained rictus grin. He is immune to venom and most poisons.

The Joker is portrayed as skilled in melee combat, from his initial appearances where he defeats Batman in a sword fight (nearly killing him), and others where he overwhelms Batman but declines to kill him.

Nemesis: Batman

Page 31: Supervillains E-Guide

AISFM

31

UltronUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Ultron’s abilities vary with each redesign, but typically include superhuman strength and durability, the power of flight, and various offensive weapons such as concussion blasters, radiation emitters and his “encephalo-ray”, which plunges its victims into a deathlike coma. The latter ray also allows Ultron to mesmerize and outright mind-control his victims, or implant subliminal hypnotic commands within their minds to be enacted at a later time. Ultron’s outer shell is usually composed of Adamantium, rendering it almost totally impervious to damage; however, his internal mechanisms are generally less durable and more easily damaged. Ultron can often control other machines remotely even if he has not transplanted his consciousness into them.

Equipment: Ultron sometimes employs a “molecular rearranger” (which renders Adamantium temporarily malleable) for purposes of reconstructing or modifying his physical form.

Nemesis: The Avengers

Page 32: Supervillains E-Guide

AISFM

32

VenomUniverse: Marvel

Powers: Previously, the alien costume, which had grafted itself to the nervous system of Eddie Brock, somehow absorbed the powers of Spider-Man during its brief symbiotic relationship with him. These powers were transferred to Brock, so long as he wore the costume. At his peak, Brock had conditioned himself to lift (press) almost 700 lbs before he came into contact with the costume. Now, in his cancer-ridden body, he possesses minimal strength. Once he merged with the costume, in his prime he was able to lift (press) almost 11 tons. The alien costume also replicated Spider-Man’s ability to cling to walls by controlling the flux of inter-atomic attraction between molecular boundary layers.

When distributed at a typical thickness over Brock’s body, the symbiote was capable of absorbing bullets from small-arms weapons firing conventional ammunition. The symbiote is however particularly vulnerable to both sonic and heat-based attacks. Also the symbiote has the power to blend in with the background.
