A HUGE THANK YOU to all who helped make Raymond Community VBS a success (those who donated
food, kitchen helpers, nursery helpers, crew leaders and those who helped
with Deep Bible Quests, games, chadder, crafts, and our service
project for Family Promise). Without the support of our community churches and its congregation
members, we would not be able to share the word of our Lord with our youth or to those who have never
heard of Jesus. We pray each one of them continue to seek the Lord
beyond this fun-filled action packed week.
The kids were able to give in various ways: (1) offering was for the Willmar
Area Food Shelf and they were able to donate 158 lbs of food and a monetary gift of $1,034, (2) the kids were asked to bring worn out, new, or one shoe(s)
for the Raymond Lions Club project Soles4Souls and they donated four big
garbage bags of shoes, (3) the elementary kids worked with the
Ladies Aid and they completed 73 tie-blankets which will be donated to
Family Promise of Kandiyohi County. What a great week for learning about
Jesus and giving to the communities in which we live.

WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA Surprise
Morgan Taatjes, an 11-year-old 5th grader from my church in Raymond, Minnesota, worked on her badge “What is the Bible” for GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior). She asked her mother if they could bake cookies, sell them, and the money would be to Bible League International. (Morgan is familiar with Bible League ministry through our church.) Morgan’s mother, Lora, called me while I was on vacation and discussed Morgan’s plans. They took orders for various kinds of cookies and quit counting after baking 26 dozen. They packaged the cookies and sold them for $4.00 a dozen. I am so thankful for the vision of this young girl making Bibles available for others with a check of $157.50 for Bible League International. (I did the math and it calculates to over 39 dozen cookies baked for Bibles!) Glory to God for using a 5th grader’s idea to make this unique fundraiser happen!
**This article was printed in the Bible League Volunteer Voice. What this article does not say, is that Morgan not only raised $157.50 for Bible League International, but also that same amount was given to the Gideons, as my husband, Stan, is a Gideon and Morgan is familiar with both ministries through our church.

Youth Ministry Minute By Garrett Hovland
As I was reading over some of the material for our upcoming Serve trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan this summer, I began to get really excited about what God is going to do in our lives that week. Prayerfully those changes that take place in our lives will not just be for that week but that they would be a lasting change as we encounter Jesus through the gospel of Mark. Yes, the gospel of Mark will be the scripture that we are focusing on at serve this summer with the aim to understand, holistically, Jesus as presented in this gospel. In order for us to prepare our hearts for going on this trip, I challenged the students to read through the gospel of Mark before we go. At the time of the challenge, we had 23 days before we left and there are 16 chapters in the gospel of Mark so that means reading a little over ½ a chapter a day. Many of them have accepted the challenge to do this, which is awesome! Please encourage them and take time to ask how the challenge is going. Most importantly, please pray that as we read the gospel of Mark together we would not just read about Jesus but encounter him in a way that totally transforms how we think, act, and live. That we might understand more clearly in our lives what it means when Jesus says, “Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). We thank you in advance for your prayers. We plan to leave at 5am on July16th and return July 23rd. Lee Bleeker April Beerman Garrett Hovland Ashley Roelofs Jake Meyer Damon Groen
