There are so many things that God does that it becomes an inexhaustible list for us to think about. But 10 Things he Cant Do? In our recent series on Favorite Psalms, we have discovered God at work daily in the lives of individual believers and in the corporate lives of the gathered congregation. We are constantly in awe of the wonders of salvation, Gods creation, and Gods re-creation in the lives of those who love him. On one particular Sunday, we practiced Praising God for how he has set life on earth in motion and continues to guide that plan in ever new ways of re-creation. Even as individuals, we experience re-creation not only when we become aware of his blessed forgiveness through Christ, but it continues as we learn more and more about him everyday and how he keeps changing us as long as we are willing to be changed by him. As I prayed over this list of 10 Things God Cant Do, I was encouraged to look up each reference to make sure the theology was correct, so I could share them with you. What happened to me was God moving through his word to bring me a sense of peace. God was speaking through this list to encourage me in my faith walk with him. The things he cant do, reveal to me what he has chosen to do. And that choosing includes me, and you. (Continued on Page 2)

To my Sunset Hills Family,

How do we express our gratitude for all that you have done for us in our time of need? Let me try. You are the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus. Meals, setup, lunch, hospitality, parking lot, umbrellas, music, leadership, sharing, audio visual, office, ABW, flowers (and everything else I forgot to list). Your are tremendous.

Love you in Christ,

Steve Bottum for Dori, Collin and Family

Thank you to those that contributed to our One Great Hour of Sharing Offering in June. Our grand total was $1,889. We can only imagine how many people we have helped in their time of need! May God bless you as you have blessed others!

Thank you to all the volunteers that helped make VBS a success through prayers or assistance. We came together to share the Gospel to 24 kids and it was truly a blessing to watch it happen!

A retirement reception for Terry Anderson will be Saturday, August 3, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., at Lucky Bucket, 11941 Centennial Road in LaVista. Please no gifts, but a donation to a food bank would be cool. Terry has been in the newspaper business since 1974, more than 45 years - 1971 if you count the five bucks he made per story for writing high school sports for the hometown weekly. He made stops at newspapers in Columbus, Lincoln, Odessa, Texas, Omaha and Tekamah. His last day in the office at Midwest Messenger in Tekamah will be August 6, but he may write an occasional column or story as News Editor Emeritus - but on his schedule!

Stewardship Ministry August News

Sincere thanks to each one of the 18 volunteers who are serving God on the 2019 Stewardship Ministry Team! Sharing the gifts that God has given you is important for His kingdom; even in a small way!

In July we addressed proposals for improving the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall window concerns. We will be preparing a presentation for the Ministry Council during a future meeting. Also, the washout areas along the east side of the north parking lot are being looked into for prevention solutions or improvements.

Should anyone see something in the building or on the grounds that needs maintenance, please note it on the Stewardship Ministry’s list of things to attend to, located on the information board in the Narthex.

We serve God better together, Wade Gilmer, Grounds Steward Bob Slechta, Financial Steward Ron Reed, Building Steward and Stewardship Ministry Leader

All-Age Adult Sunday School August News In August we expect to start the All Things New: The Revelation - Part 1 PowerPoint Ministries 9 - Message DVD Series with Jack Graham.

“Prophecy and the end times are subjects that are both mysterious and intriguing to most Christians. And while these subjects may seem far-off or detached from everyday life, what will happen in the future actually does affect your life today!”

Please pray about attending these Scripture-supported presentations. We meet in the upstairs classroom on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Come grow your faith and fellowship with us. We’ll make room for you!

All-Age Men’s Study Group August News

In July we started getting deeper into the Bible by starting Reading Romans Backwards - A Gospel of Peace in the Midst of Empire by Scot McKnight. This study is being facilitated by Pastor Bob Molby.

We meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sunset Hills, and you are invited to join us! Please enter through the main west entrance.
