This welcome book is intended to help you get acquainted with the area and our
apartments. We will be happy to host you to these comfortable apartments and give you
the opportunity to experience Cretan hospitality!Newly refurbished apartments and
studios with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom.At Sunset Apartments you will enjoy all
the elements that make Crete special, for all comforts.Each apartment has it's own
decoration for a unique feeling for your stay.Along with our area guide you'll also find
everything you need to know about our place.You will find a bound copy of this guide in
your rooms, which you are welcome to take out with you during your stay so you needn't
print this out.
Your apartment
We have sought to equip our place to a high standard and to anticipate your needs by
providing all the things you might want for a enjoyable stay. Hair dryers sun-umbrellas
and beach towels are provided so that you don’t have to worry about luggage
restrictions.Kitchen is equipped in every room to cook anytime your meals.Each apartment
has it's own decoration for a unique feeling for your stay.Coffee and Tea are provided for
free to enjoy at mornings at your private Terrace or Balconies.It also have a private safebox
for your valuables.
Our philosophy
You want to have a wonderful holiday and we want that for you too. We believe that when
you are here this is your home for however long you are staying and that you will be
relaxed, comfortable and happy.

CHECK-IN TIME
Check-in time is at 13.00pm. We can sometimes arrange an early check-in so please contact
us if you will arrive early and we'll do our best, depends the availability!
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
If you are arriving via car and have a GPS / SatNav system in the car, please use "Sunset
Apartments Rethymno" and follow the directions.
GETTING HERE WITHOUT A CAR
We understand that some of you will be traveling without a car. In this case finding us is
pretty simple!You may need our airport shuttle from your airport (Heraklion or Chania)
and our driver will wait for you at the arrivals of the airport picking you up transfer you
with safety directly to Sunset Apartments
INVENTORY CHECK
Optional opportunity to add any specific inventory check you or your housekeeping will do
on check in.
PARKING
Parking is provided for free outside of the apartments depends the availability .
DEPARTURE INFORMATION
CHECK-OUT PROCESS
When you leave, please ensure you have taken all of your personal belongings and leave the
keys to the property manager.
We hope you had a wonderful holiday and wish you safe travels back home. We'd love to see
you again next year!
CHECK-OUT TIME
Check-out time is strictly 12p.m. Should you require a later check-out we will do our best
but you need to let us know beforehand. If we have guests arriving that day it will be
almost impossible to offer a late check-out due to the cleaners needing to prepare for those
guests.
CLEANING
You will find the house clean on arrival but please let us know if you are not
satisfied.Cleaning service is every 4th day of your stay.If you need a cleaning service more
often, please let us know and we will arrange this. An extra payment will apply. On
departure it would be helpful if you could leave the house (particularly kitchen contents
etc) clean and tidy when you leave. No need for you to perform a full clean!

The apartments are located just one minute from the seafront. Newly refurbished
apartments and studio with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom, are located close to the
beach and several minutes from the center of Rethymno as well as to public
transportation.Modern apartments designed for couples who want to spend beautiful
private moments on their holiday, as well as families looking for comfort and relaxation. At
Sunset Apartments you will enjoy all the elements that make Crete special, for all
comforts.Each apartment has it's own decoration for a unique feeling for your stay.Coffee
and Tea are provided for free to enjoy at mornings at your private Terrace or Balconies.It
also have a private safebox for your valuables.All mattresses, linens, towels, pillows etc. are
brand new. Free Wi-Fi connection is available in every room.A big Super Market is close by,
only 1minute by foot.Many restaurants coffe shops as well a pharmacy is close to the
apartments.
SUGGESTIONS IF YOU ARRIVE EARLY
Many guests will arrive before the designated check-in time. The good news is that there is
plenty to do. We often suggest that guests visit the coffee shops of the area, that will give
you more time to relax! There are also many restaurants for lunch so why not relax and
enjoy some of the local food, enjoying the view of Rethymno beach!

AIR CONDITIONING
Our home has the benefit of air conditioning.Please ensure that all windows and outside
doors are closed whilst the AC is running to ensure it operate to maximum efficiency. We
recommend a setting of [72F / 22C] which we find keeps the place sufficiently cool.
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
The Fridge/freezer:
You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it's not
cooling efficiently) please let us know.
The Hob and Oven:
The hob is a three burnerelectric hob, with it's oven
BREAKAGES
We understand that sometimes accidents happen! Should you break anything please let us
know immediately - if it's minor we usually won't charge. If it's a larger issue (e.g. the TV
screen!) we would like to agree the cost with you before you leave to avoid any issues later.

Beach towels, sun-umbrellas are provided for free.

All bed linens and towels are for free and are be changing the 4th day of your stay.
GARBAGE DISPOSAL & RECYCLING
In every of our room has a recycling bin outside of the terrace/Balcony.Recyclin bins
empties the 4th day of cleaning.
WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A POWER OUTAGE
Be sure the key card for the power supply is in the slot position.In any case contact the
property manager.

CRETAN BEACHES/COASTS
The prefecture of Rethymno is an ideal destination for summer holidays, since it offers a
large number of beautiful beaches with blue, crystal waters. Magnificent sandy beaches can
be visited on the north coast, at the Cretan Sea as well as on the south coast of the island, at
the Libyan Sea. We would like to infrom you about some of the most lovely beaches:
RETHYMNO BEACH: An organised sandy beach along the beautiful promenade of
Rethymno for more than 20 km long, stretching from the town of Rethymno to the east
towards the areas of Perivolia, Sfakaki, Platanes, Adelianos Kampos, Skaleta.
PLAKIAS: The village of Plakias is situated 40 km south of Rethymno. This area has a
superb sandy beach, and the well-organised infrastructure includes hotels, rooms, tavernas
and restaurants. The organised beach offers both bathing and various water sports.
PREVELI LAGOON: 38 km south of Rethymno, shortly before you arrive at the historic
Monastery of Preveli, a track on the left hand side leads downhill to a parking place. After
approximately 15-minutes downhill walk you arrive at the beautiful sandy beach with palm
trees, where the River Kourtaliotis empties into the sea.
LOUTRO: The seaside of village is located at a distance of about 71 km. south of Chania.The only access is by boat or as you wish, by foot ! Loutro is a place for those people who want something different.
ELAFONISI: Elafonisi beach has been voted several times as one of the most majestic beaches not only in Europe but also in the world. The area features exotic beauty: dunes, cedar trees, white lilies, black rocks, rare species of animals and birds that live there, blue waters and bright white sand.
BALOS: Transport yourself to an exotic and tropical paradise as you venture to Crete’s Balos Beach. You’ll be greeted with turquoise waters and white sands as you arrive by ferry from Kissamos, or on foot from the carpark above.

PLACES TO VISIT IN RETHYMNO
Arkadi Monastery
The Arkadi Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery, situated on a fertile plateau 23 km (14 mi) to the southeast of Rethymno on the island of Crete in Greece.
The current catholicon (church) dates back to the 16th century and is marked by the influence of the Renaissance. This influence is visible in the architecture, which mixes both Roman and baroque elements.Situated on a plateau, the monastery is well fortified, being surrounded by a thick and high wall.
The monastery played an active role in the Cretan resistance of Ottoman rule during the Cretan revolt of 1866.
Museum of Ancient Eleutherna
The Museum of Ancient Eleutherna displays exhibits from the site of Eleutherna (Greek: Ἐλεύθερνα), a city-state in Crete, Greece which flourished from the Greek Dark Ages until Byzantine times. The site lies 25 km southeast of Rethymno, on a narrow northern spur of Mount Ida, the highest mountain in Crete.
Margarites Village
Margarites in Crete is a quaint mountain village that is surrounded by natural beauty. There are various tales as to why the village is called Margarites, so you’ll have to choose which one you believe. Perhaps you’ll enjoy the story of Margarita, the queen of Eleftherna who so loved the locale that she sold her jewellery to have a settlement built here in her honour.
Fortezza Castle
The Venetian Fortezza fortress can be found at the west side of the city, close to the new harbour. Being on the west makes it an ideal spot to watch the sunset. It was built on Paleokastro hill by the Venetians in 1573. It was built to protect the city of Rethymnon from the Turks.
Spili
Spili is a small village on the Greek island of Crete, located in the heart of the Rethymno department. This beautiful green village is situated on the route of Rethymnon to Agia Galini. The most striking feature of Spili is abundant flowing water. From the rock flows all year round cool spring water to the fountain which has 19 individual lions' heads. The name Spili derives the village from the many caves found in this area. (Spilaion = cave).Besides its water, the natural surroundings throughout the year are splendid greenery. Spili is a semi-tourist village, there are a number of tavernas and cafes and lots of tourist shops. It is a friendly village with hospitable inhabitants.
Argyroupolis waterfalls
Waterfalls are located in several gorges of the region, but the most easily accessible ones are in Argyroupolis. The water that gushes from the chapel of Agia Dynami forms many small waterfalls and also waters the rich vegetation that surrounds them. The landscape of the area is complemented by several taverns serving Cretan delicacies.
Georgioupolis
Georgioupolis is found at the apex of Almiros Bay on the Sea of Crete, with Cape Drapano and its rocky coast to the north and the long sandy beaches towards Rethimno in the east, just 20 km (12 min) away. Three rivers meet the sea at the village; the largest, Almiros, creates a small harbour for fishing and tourist boats. The entrance to the village on the old road from Vrisses is a long avenue of eucalyptus trees.
