This week's SROAFridayFact features E-bikes onSunriver pathways. Whether you call it an E-bikeor an Electric Bike, only ONE type is allowed onSunriver's pathways. If you must pedal to keepconstant momentum (pedal assist) then your bikeis OK to ride on the pathways. However, if yourbike has a throttle and you can stop pedaling butthe bike continues to maintain momentum, it isconsidered "motorized" and is not allowed onSunriver pathways. Please share this importantinformation about Sunriver and check out allSunriver's safety and rules here

Something New Has Hatched!Large piercing orange eyes. A six foot wingspan.Ten pounds of muscle, bone, and feathers.Prominent ear tufts. And no natural predators.Meet our newest animal ambassador – a femaleEurasian Eagle-owl (Bubo bubo). At just twomonths old, however, the owlet is still very muchfluff (downy feathers) and only beginning to learnhow to fly. The baby owl arrived in Sunriver inearly July after making its way from a wildlifecenter in New York where she was born. Sincethen, the owlet has been learning all about hernew environment – the sights, sounds, and peopleof a busy nature center. SNCO

Forest Service Law EnforcementSeeks Public's Help in

Investigating Recent Arson FiresOfficials are seeking help from the public as theyinvestigate a series of suspicious fires thatoccurred in South Deschutes County in July. Lawenforcement is asking the public for any tips orinformation that could assist in the ongoing arsoninvestigation. The fires being investigated include: * The Rosland Road Fire was reported around 2p.m. on Saturday, July 18 near Rosland Road andNewberry Estates, 4 miles NE of La Pine. The firewas contained at 393 acres. * The Finley Fire was reported at 2:30 p.m. onWednesday, July 8 near Darlene Way and FinleyButte Road, approximately 2 miles east of La Pine.The fire was contained at 45 acres. * The Paulina Lake Fire was reported at 1 p.m.on Sunday, July 5 near Highway 97 and ForestRoad 21, approximately 6 miles NE of La Pine.The fire was contained at 48 acres.The public is asked to call the Forest ServiceArson tip line at 541-383-5717 and leave amessage with any information that could help

Sunriver Community WildfireProtection Plan (CWPP)

The final draft can be found and reviewed at theProject Wildfire web page for the next 30days. Once the 30 days have concludedsignatures will be gathered. CWPPs allowscommunities to develop and list priorities thataffect their ability to survive a wildland fire in theirarea. Egress, education and water availability aresome of the other issues that communities mayaddress in their plans. FireFree Events Shatter LocalRecords

The numbers from our spring FireFree eventshowed the good work folks have been doingwhile we have all been staying home this year.This year due to COVID-19 the days that thespring FireFree event ran was extended to runMay 9th - May 24th. This year's totals reach overreached over 60,000 cubic yards! When comparedto last year's total of just over 30,000 cubic yards,this year was a great achievement. Learn More

Fire Managers Increase FireDanger Level

Fire danger levels remain in the HIGH andEXTREME ranges across Central Oregon whichhas prompted fire officials to increase the IndustrialFire Precaution Level to III at 12:01 a.m. onMonday, July 27. A Level III or “Partial Shutdown”means the use of power saws, includingchainsaws used for personal use firewood cutting,is now prohibited until conditions change. PublicUse Restrictions remain unchanged at this point—campfires are only allowed in designatedcampgrounds. For more information Click here
