An 80-year-old suburban Okla-homa City man has been for-mally charged in the fatal shooting of his 77-year-old wife, who he said had dementia and that he could no longer care for her.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday charged Royce Edward Davis of Midwest City with first-degree murder in the Oct. 7 death of Dorothy Davis. Police say Dorothy Davis was found

wounded in bed at the couple’s home and died at a hospital.

Royce Davis is jailed without bond. Court records do not list an attorney to speak on his be-half.

Police say Davis called officers about 3 a.m. on Oct. 7 and said he had shot his wife of more than 50 years and planned to kill himself, but officers later talked him into surrendering

Visitation reinstated at more Oklahoma prisons after unrest Visitation is being reinstated at two more Oklahoma prisons locked down after one inmate was killed and three dozen were hurt during coordinated violence that officials say resulted from race-based gang tension. The Department of Corrections said Thursday that visitation will resume this weekend at the minimum-security Jim E. Ham-ilton and Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Centers. Visitation was suspended and all state prisons were locked down after fights in six prisons last month. Afterward, Gov. Kevin Stitt issued an executive order to crack down on contraband cellphones he said were used to facilitate the violence Normal operations have returned to various pris-ons recently, but the DOC said the state-run North Fork Correc-tional Center, Dick Conner Correctional Center and Mack Al-ford Correctional Center and the three private prisons remain locked down.

Major at Oklahoma base pleads guilty to health care fraud

An officer at an Oklahoma military base has pleaded guilty to accepting thousands of dollars in kickbacks for referring health insurance beneficiaries to certain pharmacies. Federal prosecutors say Maj. Romeatrius Moss, a nurse at the medical unit of Vance Air Force Base in Enid, pleaded guilty to soliciting and receiving a kickback on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City. Court records allege Moss solicited and received $73,823 for steering individuals covered by TRICARE, a health insurance program for U.S. military members, to compounding pharma-cies. Prosecutors allege Moss provided pre-printed prescription pads and sent doctors’ prescriptions to specific compounding pharmacies, which paid her a percentage of the payments they received from TRICARE.
