STUDENT MINISTRY
Get to Know David Scott Luncheon - Students, parents and student workers are
invited to join us for lunch after The Gathering Service in the Gathering Hall on Sunday,
January 5. David will share about himself and his goals while serving as Interim
Minister to Students at First Baptist Plano.
Flag Football – Join us on Sunday, January 26, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Bob Woodruff
Park for some Flag Football. Bring your lunch. Water will be provided.
DNOW {Disciple Now} – Save the Date for DNOW weekend, Friday, February 14 –
Sunday, February 16. More details to come soon!! You’ll definitely want to invite your
friends for the weekend!
Bounce Disaster Recovery – Our student ministry will have two exciting BOUNCE
opportunities in 2020.
→ March 11-14 in Waco, TX – The cost will be $175. Forms are available on the wall
outside the Student Ministry office. Deadline to sign up and pay is February 16.
→ July 5-11 in Puerto Rico - Specific details to come in 2020.

David Scott to serve as Interim Minister to Students beginning TODAY - David is
currently Director of Bounce Student Disaster Recovery and Church Planting. He spent
26 years in local church student ministry in Texas, and has extensive experience with
World Changers/P2 Missions as a project coordinator and worship speaker. He served
six years as a National Missionary with the organization responsible for projects in
Texas and the western United States. He is passionate about mobilizing students and
adults to be on mission for Christ though disaster recovery, community rehabilitation,
and Church Planting. David is a graduate of Texas A&M University and Southwestern
Seminary. His interests include golf, watching Aggie football, and working in the yard.
New Class Beginning This Morning - Backpacking Through the Wilderness of Grief:
This ten-week study is designed to help those who have experienced the death of a
loved one understand their grief and find healing. The class will be facilitated by Johnny
Taylor, Chaplain, Spiritual Care & Support Services, UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Classes will be held on Sunday mornings, January 5 - March 8, from 10:05-11:05 a.m.
in the North Gathering Hall. An accompanying Support Group will be held on
Wednesday evenings, January 8 - March 11, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. also in the North

Women’s Bible Study - Thursday Women’s Bible Study starts this Thursday, January 9,
9:30-11:30 a.m., in B201. Join us for this 6-Session study: Entrusted, a study in 2
Timothy by Beth Moore. Study Description - God has a plan for you. He has entrusted
you with the gospel message and has gifted you to carry it to the furthest reaches of
this planet. He’s calling you to be His mighty servant, willing to face whatever difficulty
you encounter as you carry out His mission. Study Guides will be available for purchase
at the first session for $15.00. Childcare is available.
Wednesday Night Activities - The Wednesday night meal, Pastor’s Bible study,
Children’s Choir, and Orchestra & Sanctuary Choir rehearsal, will all resume this
Wednesday, January 8. Look forward to seeing you on Wednesday nights in 2020!!
