JOHN 6:60-7160 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) 65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”

66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

2000 Years (Travis Cottrell)

If I could see 2000 years agoTravel back in time and walk in theDay when just one man turned this world upside down

If I could be a guest at the wedding, andTaste the wine that was water moments beforeWould I realize what was really in store? That there would be so much moreChorusWould I fall down and worship?Leave all that I treasured behind? For a chance to be closerTo the Man who mightBe the One who saves my life?

If I hear His voice call to LazarusStand and stare as my friend stumbles out of the tombWitness blind men see their first morning skyWould I believe what He says to be true?

If I was there the night soldiers took Him awayWould I flee the scene like most of His friendsThen watch on the cross what I thought was the endWhat would I do then?

BridgeAnd what would it be likeAfter three days gone byWould I believe what they saidOr wanna see with my own eyes?Put my hand on the scarsOnly then realizeMy Lord, my God, alive

Will I fall down and worship?Leave all that I treasure behind? For a chance to be closer‘Cause He is still aliveAnd the One who saves my life!

Sunday School Review

Today I learned about ... “Jesus Appears to His Disciples.” Peter and some of his friends went fishing at the Sea of Galilee. They fished all night, but caught nothing in their net. Early in the morning they saw someone on the shore. He called to them, “Have you caught anything?” They yelled back, “no”. He told them to throw their net on the other side of the boat. When they did, their net was full of fish. It was Jesus! They were so excited. They made a campfire, and had fish and bread for breakfast with Jesus. They knew it was their best friend Jesus. He was alive! After they ate, Jesus asked Peter, “Do you truly love me more than anything?” He replied, “Yes, Lord.” Jesus asked him again, and then a third time. Peter remembered that three times he had denied knowing Jesus. Jesus forgave Peter for saying he didn’t know Him. Jesus wanted Peter to remember how important it is to love Him with all your heart.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PRESCHOOLER:

1. What were the disciples doing at the Sea of Galilee?

2. What happened when they threw their net into the water?

3. The next morning there was a man on the shore. What did He tell them to do?

4. What happened when they threw their net into the water?

5. Who was the man standing on the shore?

6. What did they eat for breakfast with Jesus?

7. After breakfast, what did Jesus ask Peter? What was his reply?

8. What does Jesus want us to do?

MAIN TRUTH:

Jesus loves us and forgives our sins.

FAMILY TIME:

Read the story of Jesus’

appearance to His disciples in the

Bible. Talk about how Jesus loves

us, and forgives us of our sins if

we confess them to Him. Have each

family member say a prayer.

KEY BIBLE VERSE:

“ ... that disciple whom Jesus loved

said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!”

John 21:7
