FUNERAL TAKES PRIORITY OVER ADORATION/ CONFESSION

Prayer of Supplication to Jesus. Voice of Jesus, call us when we stray. Eyes of Jesus, look upon

us when we need encouragement. Face of Jesus, smile upon us

when we need assurance. Hands of Jesus, anoint us when we

grow weary. Arms of Jesus, Lift us up when we stumble. Blood

of Jesus, wash us clean when we grow soiled. Body of Jesus,

feed us when we grow hungry. Heart of Jesus, help us to love

one another as you loved us. Amen

A Note of Gratitude I thank all the Parishioners of Mary Immaculate and Community

of St Josephine Bakhita and friends from my heart for your

prayers, kind words in the video and your cards, and your

generous gifts for the celebration of my journey of 25 years in the

Priestly Ministry. Your faith in God has been a source of strength

and fulfilment on my journey with you. May the Lord reward your

generosity with his abundant grace upon you and your family.

Amen.

How to update or start making Direct Deposit Contributions:

The easiest way is simply send an email to our bookkeeper,

Rosella Cox ([email protected]) or to Chima Adejuwon

([email protected]) asking to update or to start your

donations. If you do not have access to email, you can

accomplish the same thing by either writing a letter to

“Rosella Cox” or to “Chima Adejuwon”. We would suggest

you include your phone number in your request, so that you

can be contacted. You can also make the request by phoning

the office during regular office hours. Chima will be able to

help you with this. Due to the current COVID 19 situation,

there could be delays in starting the direct deposit up.

Thank you very much for your continued support.

The Gospels over the last few weeks have all pointed us in the direction of what we need to do to inherit eternal life. In Jesus’ parables, we are given examples of how we should be living and how we should be interacting with each other with fairness and

righteousness. This week we hear how Jesus uses the character of the landowner to say that God gives each his or her due and that he is generous with the amount that he gives. Often, we tend to compare ourselves to others and questions God’s ways but it is not up to us to tell God how and in what way he is to be generous. Rather we should be rejoicing in what we are given and then model God’s generosity to all. Recently, a friend shared with me a conversation she had with coworkers regarding the potential lessons that has resulted in living with the covid pandemic. The responses were varied from: “time to slow down”, “all of humanity is suffering”, “justice and equality for all” to “how we care for those that are vulnerable”. By the end of the conversation the group realized each had valued responses. A very insightful participant spoke up and stated that the conversation should now turn to sharing how each one could put the “lessons into action”. Although she didn’t share with me the specific action ideas, she did say that the excitement in the room was contagious. I wish I could have been there! Often, we get stuck and need a nudge to move into action. Many times, we coast along and then we are blessed with encouragement to see beyond what is directly in front of us and how we can connect those dots to look beyond the obvious, to savor those moments of witnessing the greatness of God in simple and complex ways and then to move forward and share our Christian values. As disciples of Christ we are to model His love, mercy and forgiveness. Each one of us are called, no matter our age or circumstances to be the hands and feet of Christ every day that we are on this on earth. And don’t forget we have the Holy Spirit with all the gifts that we need to become people of action.

In God we Trust

I spoke with some of our children in the parish last week about how they felt when they heard they were returning to school. They were excited because they were already tired of staying for a long time at home. However, naturally some parents are apprehensive about the return of children to school during this pandemic. I could imagine that some parents would have kept their children for home schooling but they both have to work in other to make the ends meet. The option of one to quit his or her job is not something to consider due to the mortgage and other bills that must be attended to. This must be challenging for the low income earners who have young kids. I sympathize with you, but be rest assured that you are all in my prayers for God’s strength and protection to navigate through this period. I wish to remind you of the scripture passage that says, “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).

Yes, God cares for us and his amazing grace abides with us. We are all on a trial for the test of faith in the world during this pandemic period and we must bear the light of faith in this dark and cloudy time of uncertainties. We must put our trust in God and the competent hands of the educators for the safety of everyone in our institutions. Every step we take in life is a risk; even to venture going out of our house to the grocery store. It is God who protects and leads us. Our faith practices may be done physically but God is at the center of every action. We must pray with faith in God that he will supply our needs more that we can ever imagine.

I encourage everyone to join all parents and families in prayer for the protection of God on our children and the educators as they go about their responsibilities in schools. “Again truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19). May the Lord increase our faith and give us the grace to trust in his almighty power. Amen.
