From the Pastor’s Desk: Season of Stewardship!
We are excited to announce the kick-off to the Season of Stewardship! Stewardship is our willingness to acknowledge the blessings we have in our lives and to reflect how we can continue to steward our time, talents, and treasure to act as Jesus' hands and feet in the world. Curious where to begin? Consider your
commitment to Sunday Mass, time in prayer, or praying with your family. Consider your talents and how you are using them in our parish. Consider your giving and what bad habits or materialistic goods could we remove
from our budgets that distant us from a better relationship with God. I encourage you to prayerfully discern your commitment to our parish family and we are appreciative of your willingness to say, “Yes!” Remember,
stewardship is not a program and it is not a fundraiser, rather it is an invitation to participate actively in parish life as disciples. As we discern our intentions for next year, please keep us all in your prayers and the
stewardship effort at our parishes.
FAITHFUL DEPARTED
Prayers are requested for the repose of the souls of Mildred “Millie” Essert, mother of Peggy (Mike) Korte, and

October. We ask that all parishioners attend Mass at
Immaculate Conception, St. Nicholas or St. Gertrude during this month, as
this count is used for assigning priests to parishes in the Diocese. It’s important to be counted. These num-
bers are used to determine how many priests and Masses to have at
each parish.

40 Days For Life Campaign Sep 23 to Nov 1
THANK YOU to all of you prayer warriors who prayed at the clinic in Granite City as well as
those who prayed at home on our adopted day this past Monday. The mission of 40 Days for
Life is to bring together the Body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day
campaign of prayer, fasting and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to
seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus
bringing an end to abortion. We (Immaculate Conception, St. Gertrude and St. Nicholas
parishes) chose to Adopt a Day in the 40 Days for Life Granite City campaign to end the de-
mand for abortion. We were assigned Monday, Oct 5th as our adopted day, prayer warriors
joined together in this important mission. 40 Days for Life works because prayer works!
Thank you for standing up for life!
