This Week’s Activities

Outreach

Ladies' Ministry

Ladies' Wednesday Night Study Wednesday night Bible study is back on Wednesdays at 6:30pm here at the church. Julie Fields is teaching a course on Revelation using the book More Than Conquerors by William Hendriksen.

The Attic is Back! The first time back was superb. We look forward to more kids this Friday. Remember, it’s for grades 6-12 and is from 7 pm to 10 pm, $5 admission.

Growth

Sign Up For Bus Trip to ICOM We want to take a large group to the International Conference on Missions in Richmond on Saturday, October 31. The bus will leave at 6 am from the church’s parking lot and return at 10 pm that evening. The church is underwriting a major part of the cost of the bus (and the church has already paid the registration fee); however, we are asking each rider to pay $10 (with a cap of $30 per family). You may sign up either online or at the Welcome Center. If you sign up online, you may use a card to pay there; if you sign at the Welcome Center, you may leave a check there or place the payment in the offering plate, but it needs to be designated so it will be properly credited. Remember that’s the Saturday night that we get an extra hour of sleep—what wonderful planning!

Crash Course on Church History Wednesday Evenings, 10/14-11/18 Bill Griffin will teach a “run-through” of Church History, starting with the late first century and coming somewhat to the present, with some strong attention given to the Restoration Movement—all of this in six weeks! So, you know we can’t get “bogged down.” Why not plan to join us for this study on Wednesday evenings?

Volunteers Needed for Nursery Gay Murray sends this plea: I am happy to say that our Nursery attendance continues to grow, and we count that as such a blessing. With that being said, we need more workers. If you are interested in working with our Babies and/or Toddlers, please contact Sissy Giffin, Gay Murray or let them know at the Information Center. Thanks for your consideration in this ministry.

Children’s Ministry

Children’s Christmas Program Yay!!! We had a great start this past week with this year’s Children’s Christmas Musical, The Night Shift Before Christmas. If your children were not able to make it, it is not too late to get involved! We will have practices on most Wednesday and Friday evenings. Schedules of all the practices are available. It will definitely take most of them to pull it all together, so we need all the kids at as many of the practices as possible. The kids need to bring their script notebooks back if they took them home. If you have any questions, please contact Sissy Giffin at [email protected] or 619-2592.

Men’s Bible Study The men at Towne South gather two times during the week to study and

fellowship around God’s word. One group meets on Wednesday mornings at 6:15 am (Hebrews) and our second group meets on Saturday mornings from 8-9 am (Revolutionary Manhood). Join us as we learn how to help each other become more consistent and godlier men. These meetings are open to all men!

Men’s Ministry

Nursery

Climbing Higher Ministries - Thanks You!!! On behalf of Climbing Higher Ministries, I would like to thank everyone that helped with “Prom” last Friday Night. We had approximately 190 in attendance: 85 Special guests, along with their family and staff and over 50 volunteers from Towne South. You guys are awesome! I love being part of a church family that is so willing to share God’s Love. Thanks again. Gay Murray (Also Tuesday November the 10th will be “Day Camp” so mark your calendars!!!)

Fall Family Fest This is a wonderful opportunity for us to reach out to our community! Towne South invites all families out on Sunday, November 8th from 6-8pm for fall festivities with family and friends. The menu will consist of a variety of hot soups, chili, crackers, and hotdogs. The festivities will include carnival type games throughout the building, as well as outdoor activities which include hayrides, inflatables and a bond fire for roasting (yum…smores). Hey, why not get one more use out of that costume? We invite the children to dress in costume, if they’d like. Please, nothing evil. We need plenty of folks to help prepare soups and chili, as well as those who will oversee the games. Please check out the back table and find a spot to share and serve for this community outreach event. Any questions, please contact Sissy at [email protected] or 338-2248.

Reflections on Great Day of Service IV Wow! Last Sunday was amazing! Thank you to all who served and made a difference. It is amazing to be a part of a church that knows how to serve like Jesus. We had 150 people serving in 15 different areas throughout Elizabeth City and Hertford. It is the prayer of our leadership that our church will continue to serve, not just one day, but every day of the year. Maybe the place you served could be a place you and your family could serve on a regular basis? Let’s be hands and feet of Jesus!

Time/Talent Sheets – Remember The Times Today you will find bright yellow Time and Talent sheets in the chairs of the auditorium. If you have not had an opportunity to fill one out before, now is your chance! These will be used to find a place for you to serve in the areas of your interests, utilizing your specific talents. Towne South wants to help you grow in your spiritual development, by serving God and His kingdom. Just turn them in at the Welcome Center after you’ve completed both sides.
