Coming Together

Prelude John Douglas and Jeffrey Segal His Eye is on the Sparrow

By Charles H. Gabriel Welcome

Call to Celebrate Carmen and Rosa Mercado

Leader 1: Come, everyone, come, even if life now and then just feels like a chore, even if sometimes it takes its toll on you and sets another burden upon your shoulders. Come.

Leader 2: Vengan, vengan todos, incluso si la vida se siente como un quehacer, aunque estén abrumados y lleven cargas pesadas en sus hombros.

Leader 1: Come and Listen! Hear these words of invitation from

the Prophet Isaiah:

ALL: If you are thirsty, come to the water!

Are you penniless? Come anyway—buy and eat!

Leader 1: Come, buy your drinks, buy wine and milk. Buy without

money—everything’s free!

Leader 2: Why do you spend your money on junk food, your hard-

earned cash on cotton candy?

ALL: Listen to me, listen well: Eat only the best, fill yourself with

only the finest.

Leader 1: Pay attention, come close and listen carefully to my life-

giving, life-nourishing words.

Leader 2: I’ll make a lasting covenant commitment to you, the

same that I made with King David,

ALL: My mercy knows no boundaries. I will love you with a

sure, solid, enduring love.

Seeking God’s Presence/Centering Prayer

Bakerwoman God, you make of the world’s humblest

elements a bountiful feast. We come to you asking for

sustenance to carry us through the day. Bless the loaves that

we bring to your table today and the farm to table foods that

grace our tables at home. You feed the world. Feed us. Amen.

Loving Creator we honor you, and we honor all that you have

Congregational/Choral Response

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place; I can feel God's mighty power and God's grace.

I can hear the brush of angels' wings, I see glory on each face; Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
