For the month of October, we will be collecting KNORR SIDE DISH PACKETS, HOT CHOCOLATE PACKETS, CANNED CHICKEN, CANNED FRUIT, INSTANT MASHED POTATOES, HALLOWEEN CANDY (NO SUCKERS), HATS & GLOVES FOR KINDERGARTEN & 1ST GRADERS. This is what we need help with: 1. Concession Stand Helper 2. Parking Attendants 3. Supplying Bags of Candy 4. Monetary Donations 5. Prayers 6. Decorating a Car– We are hoping to get at least 20-25 cars this year!

If you would like to have a car in this event but feel it would be way too expensive to supply candy, please don’t let that stop you… we use the donated candy to help everyone. Also, if you’re not sure how to decorate your car Pinterest is full of ideas. And, if the weather looks like it’s going to be cold or rainy we will move the event inside and decorate a table, like last year! Please help us reach out to family, friends, clubs, scouts, school groups, teams, or whoever might enjoy decorating a car, truck or even a table. Let them know about this event and let us know if they would like to participate in Trunk or Treat!

It is our hope that this event will be a wonderful way to Reach Out to our community and a way to enjoy fellowship within our church family.

The College Care Ministry is updating the list of students and military persons for the current semester. If you are a college student, military person, or have one in your family, please notify us of a current address. You can send it to the church office, or let one of us know.

In order to stay connected with our college students, as well as our military persons in this age group, we send care packages near the end of each semester in the Fall and Spring. If you "adopted" a college student/ military person last Spring, and would like to continue to support the same person, or adopt a different individual this school year, please let us know. If you haven't participated before, but would like to "adopt" someone for this school year, let us know. Full sponsorship of a student would cost $20 per semester, which includes the contents of and postage for their care package. You also have the option to write a word of encouragement to be included with their package.

Jubilee Christmas

Every December, through the generosity of the members of CUMC, we are able to provide 20 families with Christmas assistance in the form of clothing, food boxes, cleaning baskets, new toys, blankets, ornaments, Bibles, cookie trays and many other items. This year’s Jubilee Christmas will take place on December 10th. The families in need are referred to us through Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM). Jubilee is a wonderful event which brings the meaning of Christmas close to home. However, the giving would not be possible without our congregation’s generous gifts. If you would like to donate to Jubilee, please place your offering in the “Season of Giving” envelope. There are also many ways to volunteer: shopping, working at church, organizing items, baking cookies, hosting a family, or wrapping gifts. The reward of seeing these families have a Christmas that would not otherwise happen is truly a blessing for all. Watch for the Jubilee kick-off on Sunday, November 13th.
