Dear Parishioners,

I want to offer thanks: 1. To all the parishioners who are praying and reaching

out to offer help to each other and the parish. Crisis brings out the best.

2. Our parish staff who are working very hard at the office and remotely to respond to the changing situation and to make sure we are doing what we can to assist you in any way possible.

3. Our school staff, teachers and the students and their parents who are striving mightily to keep the school going through Virtual Learning.

4. Our Associate Pastors who are creatively and courageously ministering to all of you.

5. Our staff that is keeping the parish responsive through our Facebook Live posts, Flocknote and Website updates.

6. The staff for starting Parishioners Helping Parishioners to assist those who are isolated and need contact and help.

7. The people who are praying and attending Mass virtually.

8. To the parishioners who are still contributing online or in the mail so we can keep the parish going.

9. To the angels that dropped off TP this week. That was a lighthearted moment in all this tumult.

10. To the many ways that you’ve inspired your priests with your love for the Church and the Mass. Most of all I want to offer thanksgiving to God who works everything to the good. In the midst of these troubled and uncertain times, we know that God will bring about great good if we let him. The cross has appeared in the midst of our fears and anxieties. Jesus beckons us to stand with him in the sure and certain hope that his love, mercy and grace will be the medicine that transforms us; so often we get an opportunity to rediscover how important Jesus is to us and how much we need him. Yes. God works it all to the good. Jesus, I trust in you!

Love, Msgr. Deutsch

Here’s a couple of pictures from a parish family joining us during our virtual adoration last Tuesday.

I can do all things in him who strengthens me.

4 IMPORTANT PARISH INFORMATION St. Patrick Parish F.A.Q.

Q. Are all Masses canceled?

A. Unfortunately, yes all public masses until April 4 have been canceled. We are live streaming mass daily on our Facebook Page at 9:00 a.m. And for those who don’t have Facebook, we encourage you to watch Mass on EWTN.com.

Q. What happens to the specific daily mass intentions?

A. We are working with a canon lawyer to find the best solution to ensure that all Mass intentions are offered up in a timely manner. We will give an update once we have more information. Thank you for your patience.

Q. Is the sacrament of confession still available?

A. Yes! We have revised the confession times in an attempt to be more accommodating to everyone. Here are the new confession times:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday at the Downtown Church from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday at the Crane Road Church starting at 6:00 p.m. (until all are heard) Saturday at the Downtown Church starting at 9:00 a.m. (until all are heard) and Crane Road Church from at 3:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Q. Is the Church still offering Adoration on Tuesdays and Wednesdays?

A. Unfortunately, no. For everyone’s safety and health, we have canceled our weekly adoration times until further notice. We are looking into ways to stream Eucharistic Adoration so you can pray from your home.

Q. Will the Church remain open during the day so people can come to pray?

A. Yes, the Church will remain open for people to pray throughout the day. We just ask that everyone uses their best judgment when you come to pray. If you are feeling ill or showing any symptoms, for the sake of the parish, please pray from home.

Q. What steps is the church taking to prevent the spread of germs?

A. For those who would like to come to the Church to pray, we are asking that all parishioners maintain a healthy social distance from one another. We also are disinfecting pews throughout the week to try to provide a clean Church.

Q. Is the parish office still open?

A. The Parish Office is closed. You can call 630-338-8000 and someone from the staff will get back to you within 24 hours.

Q. Are Religious Education Classes canceled?

A. Yes, all Church gatherings (outside of the sacraments are canceled) but we are sending out virtual learning lessons so parents and kids can stay connected to the faith and the Church.

A. Absolutely, in case of an emergency or urgent pastoral need, please call the church office, 630-338-8000, and one of our priests will respond to your ASAP.

Q. When will be going back to a regular schedule?

A. We eagerly await the time we can get back to the regular schedule. But we will continue to do whatever it takes to keep our parishioners safe and healthy. We will continue to follow the CDC and guidance from the government and diocese; when they say it is safe to resume normal gatherings we will gladly do so.

Please make a commitment to help ST. PATRICK PARISH PRO-LIFE COMMITTEE

Make a difference during LENT!

The 40 Days for Life campaign, from now until April 5, our community will unite with many

others from coast to coast – and internationally – for a major simultaneous pro-life mobilization.

You can sign up by going to

https://tinyurl.com/stp40dfl or by contacting Jon Mielke at

[email protected] or 847-863-1264.

Faithful believers are praying and fasting for 40 days that these efforts will mark the beginning

of the end of abortion.

The 40 Days for Life efforts have resulted in the following: 16,742 Lives Saved From Abortion 196 Abortion Workers Converted 104 Abortion Facilities Closed

Praying and fasting is part of the Catholic Tradition.

Our Lady of Fatima (Our Blessed Mother) asks for all Catholics to do the following:

• Amend our lives and ask for pardon for our sins • Pray the Rosary daily

• Make sacrifices for sinners • Complete “Five First Saturday Devotions”

• Wear the Brown Scapular

During Lent we will focus our almsgiving on supporting

the work of HOPE FOR HAITIANS

“Feed the Hungry” – one of the corporal works of mercy. Today we need to recognize the

ease with which we can help alleviate some hunger. The little girl in this photo is eating cassava bread. She is in a Hope for Haitians

village that has a cassava bakery as part of teaching a trade and providing

a micro-enterprise for that village. Cassava, a tuberous root that is ground into

flour, is one of the staples in Haiti. In three villages we helped build,

we provided a rice mill for the

villagers so they can be more efficient in

processing their hand harvested

crops and help feed their families. This mill will also allow them to produce additional

rice and flour to sell to other villages.

Help Hope for Haitians complete more villages by donating during the

parish Lenten almsgiving appeal. Each gift is truly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who has been sacrificing to fill a donation box or envelope.

Please keep your box at HOME until further notice for collection.

If you would like to find out more about this ministry, or make your donation online,

call 815-847-0656, or visit their Website at hopeforhaitians.org.

Prayer of the Faithful: As the blind man had his sight restored by

Jesus, may we have our eyes opened to the hunger and needs of Haitian families, and

recognize God’s call to share our blessings and help them overcome their poverty…

Lord , please hear our prayers

PRAY THE CHAPLET OF Divine Mercy

at 3:00 p.m. at HOME

Our Lord promised extraordinary graces to those who recite this

special prayer. The chaplet is prayed on rosary beads. It is appropriate to

pray the Chaplet during the “Hour of Great Mercy” at 3:00 pm each afternoon.

This recalls the time of Christ’s death on the cross.

THE SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL would like to thank everyone who participated in our Trivia Night Fundraiser on February 8th.

You are Awesome! Your generosity made it a rousingly

successful event – God bless you all. His spirit could certainly be felt as we worked, played and raised funds for

the needy in our area. You made a difference! A special Thank You to

Fr. Gonnella who allowed himself to be playfully “auctioned off” to share his knowledge as a ninth player at a

table, and to the two benefactors who so very generously donated

a hefty sum for the privilege. An extra Thank You to our able Emcee, Tom Pietrowski, without whose dedication and hard work we could not

have hosted this event for the past 15 years. You are a blessing.

Finally, we want to thank everyone who contributed in any way throughout the year so we can continue to

be that helping hand to our neighbors in need. THANK YOU.

Congratulations to the Winning Table! From left: Sean and Emily Wixted, Dave and Emily Mack with their

adorable 2-year-old daughter Charlotte, Claire and Scotty La Vanne, Karen Van Acker, and Mackenzie Doyle. Well Done!!
