In Ephesians it says that God placed all things under his feet He is head over everything FOR the church which is His body. He is head over everything FOR the church. Unity enables us to build momentum and for our effort/skill to be multiplied. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body…and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Paul often drives the point of unity to the churches he writes to: Forgive one another…put on love…bound together in unity (Colossians 3:13-14) Be humble & gentle…bear with one another in love…keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:2-3) We are all one body…be devoted in love…honor one another above yourselves (Romans 12:3-8) Let there be no divisions among you (1 Corinthians 1:10) Carry each other’s burdens and you fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) Being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind (Philippians 2:2) Live in peace with each other (1 Thessalonians 5:13) We must all recognize that the work ahead will require something from each of us. Nehemiah 1:2-4 They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.” When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. This news so affected Nehemiah it burdened him, it weighed him down. We need to be burdened as Nehemiah was for our community. Knowing that people we interact with every day are dying and going to hell should weigh on us to the point that we mourn over the potential loss and eternal separation that they will experience unless they receive God’s greatest gift of salvation. We should respond as Nehemiah did and fall on our face before the Lord and bring this burden to Him not just to drop it off at His feet and do nothing about it but to ask God what He would have us do. For us the message is clear. The church is interchangeably called the body of Christ and as members of that body we have a responsibility to its upkeep. Not just the physical maintenance and restoration, but to the edification or building up of one another. Without building each other up, we will not be able to Build Forward as we are called to do. “Building God Pleasers” II Corinthians 5:9

To transform and equip families with Biblical truth so that they may become God pleasers. Our Vision:

August 20, 2017

Building Forward

Matthew 9:37-38 “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,

therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is

like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the

winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock…”

If we tried to set our foundation on anything other than Christ we would be setting ourselves up for

disaster and shame.

Romans 9:33 As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock

that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

Intimacy with Christ will enable us to make decisions that align with His will rather than our own. If we

do not set Christ as our cornerstone – then we do become susceptible to future shame because of bad

decisions, sinful actions, etc.

We must all be unified in our submission to God, looking to Him for direction.

Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church...so that in everything he might have the

supremacy.

Ephesians 1:19-23 .. seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and author-

ity... And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the

church, which is his body...

Christ is the head of the church – the leader. He is the beginning – the firstborn from among the dead,

so that IN EVERYTHING He might have supremacy. In Ephesians it says that God placed all things

under his feet – He is head over everything FOR the church which is His body. Christ is not given au-

thority over the church to lord it over us in a negative way but to be Lord over us – to provide, lead,

direct, encourage, and build us up. He is head over everything FOR the church.

Unity enables us to build momentum and for our effort/skill to be multiplied.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one

body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body…and we

were all given the one Spirit to drink.

Paul often drives the point of unity to the churches he writes to:

Forgive one another…put on love…bound together in unity (Colossians 3:13-14)

Be humble & gentle…bear with one another in love…keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of

peace (Ephesians 4:2-3)

We are all one body…be devoted in love…honor one another above yourselves (Romans 12:3-8)

Let there be no divisions among you (1 Corinthians 1:10)

Carry each other’s burdens and you fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2)

Being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind (Philippians 2:2)

Live in peace with each other (1 Thessalonians 5:13)

We must all recognize that the work ahead will require something from each of us.

Nehemiah 1:2-4 They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in

great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned

with fire.” When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted

and prayed before the God of heaven.

This news so affected Nehemiah – it burdened him, it weighed him down. We need to be burdened as

Nehemiah was for our community. Knowing that people we interact with every day are dying and going

to hell should weigh on us to the point that we mourn over the potential loss and eternal separation

that they will experience unless they receive God’s greatest gift of salvation. We should respond as

Nehemiah did and fall on our face before the Lord and bring this burden to Him – not just to drop it off

at His feet and do nothing about it – but to ask God what He would have us do.

For us the message is clear. The church is interchangeably called the body of Christ and as members of

that body we have a responsibility to its upkeep. Not just the physical maintenance and restoration, but

to the edification or building up of one another. Without building each other up, we will not be able to

Build Forward as we are called to do.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

After 35 years of ministering to hundreds of people at KABC and the community, it is impos-sible to contact all of them using mail service or even email service.

BUT if you have contact with any former friends/members of KABC, would you please call/email/Facebook them to let them know of this important event?

Please tell them that Bro. Chuck is retiring after 35 years at KABC. His last Sunday is August 13 but there will be a retirement party at 3 pm on Saturday, Sept 9. If they plan on attending, please RSVP to the church office, 813-685-3095 or [email protected]

For all of them, near and far, to please send best wishes/thanks to him and Sharr-an by email (to [email protected]) or by a card at KABC, 2602 S. Kings Ave, Brandon 33511, with the NOTE on the outside of "RETIREMENT," so these items can be intercepted and collected to give him on the day of the retirement party.

Thank you for this important help. Encourage all those you contact to pass this information onto others they still have contact with. 35 years is A LOT of people.

The 2017-2018 Primetimers’ schedule and sign-up sheets for field trips are available. Please see Lori Martin 813-505-3357 for a copy and to sign up for your spot.

2 Corinthians 1:3-11 Rev. Mark Thomas, Bible Teacher

Paul has been put in the position of defending his apostleship by people who are opposing him and what he has been teaching. How can we know that what the Bible teaches us today is God's truth? Have you ever been confronted by someone who insists that the Bible might have had relevance once, but is no longer good for the times in which we live? This is a very real issue in the Church today, and it forms the basis for what we will be discussing tonight in the Chapel, beginning at 6PM. Hope to see you there!
