Our Challenge
Dear friends: The Acts of the Apostles follows the four gospels in the New Testament. At the time it was written, scholars estimate that the total Christian population of the then-known world was a little more than five thousand people. Their common ownership was not imposed upon them by church leadership, but had its roots in their unity of heart and soul. These Christian brothers and sisters loved each other, and so they took care of each other. In his epistle, St. John reminds the community that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah, the anointed Son of God, has been born of God. They have no reason to be afraid for they belong to God. As God’s children, they can rest assured that they are loved and protected by their divine parent. In the fourteenth chapter of John’s gospel we read about Thomas who had no filter preventing him from openly acknowledging his ignorance about what Jesus meant when he said that his disciples “knew the way” to the Father to whom He was going. Thomas shows us that it is not “wrong” to experience doubts. In the end, Thomas believed. In the gospel story of the rich man, he asks that someone tell his brothers about the torments of hell. Abraham replies that the message wouldn’t change them: They already have Moses and the prophets. They have the word of God. If they have not believed the truth that they have already heard, they will not believe it if it comes from one returning from the dead. Jesus knew that miraculous works and sensational acts, like changing stones to bread, would not convert people. He never performed a miracle for its own sake. His miracles were always signs pointing to a greater truth. We do not believe in him be-cause we “saw” the resurrection, or, like Thomas, have “seen” the nail prints. It is more nearly the other way around. We believe in his resurrection on that first Easter because of what we know of him …because of who we have found him to be. Have a good week! Love and prayers, Father Randy
WILL YOU BE A SPONSOR FOR RCIA? The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the process by which we welcome persons who are inquiring about the Catholic Faith and prepare them for Baptism, Confirmation, and full Communion with the Catholic Church.
The entire St. Aloysius family plays a vital role in this holy hospitality. Participants rely on your prayers, support, and, most importantly, your presence. Members of the parish are asked to serve as Sponsors – mentors and guides who encourage and help the participants as their companions as along the Way.
At St. Aloysius, we are always welcoming newcomers and we have a continuing need for Sponsors. The need has recently become especially great because of a startling increase in the number of participants.
While no special preparation is required, Sponsors should be practicing Catholics who are willing to share their faith and stand with participants during the various rites celebrated at Mass. The time com-mitment is about one to two hours a week, usually on Sunday mornings after the 9:00AM Mass. This may last a few months in the case of baptized Christians preparing for Confirmation, or up to a year for those preparing for Baptism.
For more information, contact Mark Christian by email at [email protected] or by calling the Church Office.

Thank you, Claire!
Claire Grandy is leaving the staff of St. Aloysius Church after 20 years of dedicated service as Parish Ministries Secretary. In her support role over all those years Claire has had many varying and challenging tasks, from the recording of sacramental records to lay out of the bulletin, and as staff liaison to our Community Life Commission and its many ministries in which an abundance of our parishioners are involved. Our entire parish family extends to Claire our sincere gratitude for all she has contributed to the vitality of our parish while on our staff, and for continuing to share her gifts in con-tinued ministry in the parish! Claire will be present at our upcoming Ministries Appreciation Crawfish Boil so that members of our parish family can personally greet and express to her their appreciation!

“Partners on the Journey”
A Marriage Enrichment Series
In our current culture, married couples often struggle to maintain a strong relationship without the
benefit of reliable resources for guidance and support.
To help strengthen marriages in our community, St. Aloysius offers a marriage enrichment series, called Partners on the Journey, that helps couples rediscover the deeper meaning of their relationship based on a Catholic vision of marriage as well as familiarize couples with some important relation-ship skills that scientific research has proven to be essential in making marriages last. Couples meet once per month, on a weeknight, both in a large group and as couples. Want to hear more?? The couples who have just completed the program would like to invite all couples to an
Information Session about Partners on the Journey
Sunday, April 29th, after the 9 AM Mass in Pastoral Service Center Conference Room
For more information now, please contact Sonny Chastain, 572-9178 or [email protected] or Sr. Janelle at the Parish Office.
Come hear what Partners on the Journey
might offer your marriage!

The aging process guides the individual through a re-evaluation of one’s life; and ultimately leads to understanding one’s own true spirit, the vital center or core in our lives. Spiritual experiences through events in life and through moments in relationships can make us more aware of understanding that vital core within us that brings meaning and purpose to our lives. This retreat explores the spiritual dimensions of aging, spiritual development and spiritual self. For individuals and for caregivers.
