Electronic Giving with Faith Direct
As you are probably aware, church attendance during the summer months tends to drop off as vacations and weekend sporting events often conflict. On the other hand, the services we provide within the parish and for the larger community continue year round, as do their associated expenses. Thus, your consistent financial support of our parish is vital to achieving our stewardship mission.
The easiest way to be sure that your gift of treasure reaches us, even when you can’t be here, is through enrollment in our electronic offertory program: Faith Direct. Once you have enrolled, you can relax knowing that St. Joseph Marello will receive your gifts throughout the summer.
Enrollment forms are available in the church office or you can visit Faith Direct’s secure web site at www.faithdirect.net to enroll online. Our parish code is CA748. As always, know that your generosity is truly a gift from God.

Lighthouse Booklet of the Week:Why Go to Confession?
A simple, practical guide to the practice and the benefits of ConfessionThe purpose of this booklet is to help those who make use of the sacrament to appreciate it more, and to encourage those who do not, to reconsider its many benefits. Describing the sacrament as “one of the greatest treasures of the Catholic Church,” this booklet considers both the human and spiritual perspectives of Confession. It includes notes on examination of conscience and a helpful Rite to Confession itself.

St. Joseph Marello Marian Guild Raises $3000 forBishop Gallegos Maternity Home
On April 13th, the Marian Guild held a luncheon fundraiser, “Life is a TRIP!”, in the Ministry Center. The luncheon, chaired by Paulette Story, was a SOLD-OUT event. The Rev. Paul McDonnell, OSJ, traveled from Santa Cruz to be the keynote speaker. The theme of the luncheon was “respect life” and included table-scapes decorated by our members and friends, SJM’s “Jammers for Life” entertainers (directed by the talented Jann Nicholls), and a delicious catered lunch by Karen’s Bakery and Café.
The Guild is proud to announce that $3000.00 was raised for the Bishop Gallegos Maternity Home through ticket sales and personal donations by attendees. President Linda Van Rees and the Guild Executive Board would like to thank all those who attended the luncheon for their support, and all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to plan and organize the event.
All women of the Parish (18+yrs.) are welcome to join the Marian Guild. Contact Membership Chair, Ann Whitman, ([email protected], 916-215-7929), for membership information. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month and start times alternate mornings and evenings).
