SUNDAY: 3 JANUARY: THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD FROM THE PASTOR Dear parishioners, Happy New Year to everyone! Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. When Jesus was shown to the Gentiles they gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold is for a king. Frankincense is for the worship of God by a priest. Myrrh is for the anointing of the dead for a prophet. Let us bring him the gifts of our lives, our time, talent and treasure. Thanks to all who decorated and donated for the Christmas season. It adds so much to the solemnity of this season. For Mass intentions we are now limiting those intentions to 50 spaces per intention in the bulletin. We used to do 5 names but that is open to interpretation. 50 spaces is cut and dry. If you took your picture for the pictorial directory, please come and get your copy at the rectory. For the Year of Mercy we have booklets in the rectory which can be stamped at each one of the pilgrimage churches. You are limited to one booklet per family. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Thomas Voorhies Fr. Tom’s Joke of the Week A little girl was sitting on her grandfather’s lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally she spoke up, “Grandpa, did God make you?” “Yes, sweetheart,” he answered, “God made me a long time ago.” “Oh,” she paused, “Grandpa, did God make me too?” “Yes, indeed, honey,” he said, “God made you just a little while ago.” Feeling their respective faces again, the little girl observed, “God’s getting better at it, isn’t He?” Returned to Christ through death, our prayers and sincere condolences are offered to the families of: Joseph Perrodin, Jr. Catholic Reading: We have several resources available for you to take advantage of concerning our Catholic Faith. One literature rack contains pamphlets on some of the key doctrines, dogmas, and views of the Church on issues.
