After the celebrations of last year’s tenth show, we head into our eleventh, hopefully going from strength to strength...

We have had an amazing response this year with our tour ‘selling out’ in just twelve days and the show has been at capacity for over six weeks with an extensive waiting list, showing the popularity of the show and the classic car movement as a whole.

We only have limited space here on the Green and we have carefully calculated how many classics we can fit - there should be around 240 pre-1979 vehicles displayed, covering a wide range of eras and styles, all are their owners pride and joy and we thank them for bringing them. Choose the one you would like to ‘take home’ and vote for it in the ‘People’s Choice Award’. Also, don’t miss the amazingly turned out entrants in the ‘Best Dressed Car and Crew’ judging at 2pm.

We would like to thank the people and businesses in the town for their help and support, enabling us to keep the entrance free for the people in our community. There is something for everyone, you don’t even need to like cars to enjoy the day!

Please look at our website after the show. We will put links to photographs of the day and you can check your lucky programme number if you are not able to stay for the draw.

Have a great afternoon, James

TOUR CARS

The Tour

5

The HCCS Tour took place earlier this morning. Ninety classics took part in a 64 mile drive through the beautiful local countryside. People love the opportunity to drive their classics and the tour is becoming more and more popular every year.

After an early breakfast on the Green, the crews set off following a route using ’tulips’ - pictorial representations of junctions first used on Dutch rallies in the 50’s. We have still managed to find a few new roads even though it is our eleventh tour!

This year we have been South and West of the town through Elsted and Harting, up the old Harting Hill Climb famous in the 30’s, on to Clanfield

and then on the Old Winchester Road which runs along the hilltop with spectacular views over the Meon Valley. Our refreshment stop was at the Hinton Arms. A shorter a more flowing return route should have the cars back on the Green for 1pm.

Luckily the sun shone down on the 10th Haslemere Classic Car Show If you had seen the weather forecast for Sunday 27 May, you would have

thought that any event would have to be cancelled… well the people of Haslemere must all have

been good, as despite the terrible predicted storms, the sun shone down on Lion Green and the 10th

Classic Car show took place under glorious blue skies without a drop of rain.

Special thanks to James Lynch, Pistonphoto for many of the images in this programme

HASLEMERE HOUNDS

If you have attended the HCCS for the last couple of years, you may have noticed an invasion of painted ‘beasts’... these are a community art project which raises tens of thousands of pounds for various charities.

The HCCS are proud to be onboard with this fun initative. In 2017 the theme was Hogs and we had our very own ‘Road Hog’ painted by local illustrator and previous show entrant Derek Matthews.

In 2018 The HCCS’s ‘Wind in your Hare’, celebrating the love of ‘classic roof down motoring’ made his debut at the show and we were visited by a truckful of the other Hares.

Peoples Choice 2019 Winner: Dave Melton, Daimler Dart SP250 MK1 Runners-up: Stewart Copps, MG PA and Gary Bartlett, Ford Capri MK1 1600GT

This year the town has gone dog mad with the Haslemere Hounds project. Our contribution Houndstooth - for the discerning classic motorist has been created by local graphic designer Jane Puttock, in-between producing material for the show! Thanks go to Sarah Bowler Master Saddler for helping out with his ‘car seat’.

‘Houndstooth’ will be auctioned later in the year with the proceeds going to the 1268 Haslemere ATC who help us so much with organising the cars here today at the show.

A group of this years Hounds will be in attendance at the show so make sure you catch them.
