Bus service problemsOver the past month, the SunCity News has receivednumerous complaints about therevamped bus service that wasvaried to fit in with the openingof the Butler railway station.

Yanchep resident, Rob Barnessaid: It’s no fun sitting at Butlerwatching 490 (Two Rocks) and491 (Wilkie Ave) buses leavingevery 20-30 minutes and youhave to wait one and half hoursfor a St Andrews’ bus. I saybring back the old bus route.”

Another Yanchep resident,Debra Anderson, told the SunCity News: “I recently had to takemy two grandchildren to schoolby public transport while pushinganother two in the pram.

“I found that the new timetableis so hard for you to get to theschool on time.

“To get there from the YanchepGolf Estate you have to get the7:41am bus because if you getthe next one at 8:37, thechildren are late, so it meansthat you have almost an hourwait for school to start.

“I can then get the 9:21am busback home.

“But to pick the children up, Ican only get the 1.50pm bus,one hour before school gets outat 2.50pm.

“Now by the time you get thechildren and get to the bus stopyou have missed the 3:05pmbus and now have to wait for the3:32pm bus.

“We are told to use publictransport, but if I had a choice Iwould not but I do not have alicence nor can I afford a car soI have no choice.

“Maybe if others complained toTransperth, like I have via thenet, then they might fix theproblem - I said might!”

Several Two Rocks residentshave complained about theschool bus service to YanchepDistrict High Schooldisappearing completely.

The old school bus servicewould drive around the YachtingVillage and up Whitfield Driveand Blaxland Avenue, stoppingat numerous school bus stops, providing just about a door todoor service - Now all studentshave to walk to a Transperthbus stop at the shopping centreor along Two Rocks Road.

Some kids have nearly akilometre walk to catch a bus toschool.

How do you like to spend yourweekends? When not attending community eventswith my electorate I most like to spendtime playing with my daughters, Ruby(7) and Lily (5). We like to go to thebeach, bike riding and the park.

What is your most treasured possession? My wedding ring. What would you first save in a house fire? That’s easy; after my wife and daughters, my back up hard drive containingall our photos and videos of our family life together. What is the last book you read?Last night, a bedtime book for my daughters - The Hungry Caterpillar. My lastbook was the best history book I’ve ever read - The Tyrannicide Brief byacclaimed Australian human rights barrister, Geoffrey Robinson QC.If there is one thing you would change about Australia, what would it be?There are two things. I would try and change the culture of alcohol abusewhich leads to family break up and domestic violence; and I would eradicatemethamphetamine from our society.Who would you invite to dinner?Danny Green, Krista McKeeken, Dr David Joske, Antoinette Kennedy, TimMinchin, Louise Sauvage, Malcolm McCusker and Kylie Minogue. What was your most embarrassing moment?Travelling back to Perth to appear in court, I boarded the wrong aircraft; itwasn’t until we were taxing down the runway and the pilot welcomed me tothe flight to Darwin that I realised my mistake. I had to plead with the cabincrew to notify the pilot to stop the aircraft, a truck came with a set of steps totake me off the plane - I can still remember standing at the top of the stepsas we backed away from the airplane with everyone looking out the windowsof the plane, laughing and waving.

What is the marina’s future?Late last week, the official wordfrom the Department of TransportCoastal Infrastructure about thefuture of the Two Rocks marinawas: “The State Government willmake an announcement on thelease agreement at Two Rocksonce the current operators havebeen advised of the position.

“The Department of Transport(DoT) will contact pen holdersand tenants at this time andrepresentatives will be on site todiscuss ongoing arrangements.Fees and charges will bemaintained at existing levels.”

A source in the Department ofTransport told the Sun City Newsthat Yanchep Sun City Pty Ltdhad already been notified thatDoT would be taking over interimmanagement of the marina from10 November, while ‘Expressionsof Interest’ for a five year leaseare pursued.

The Sun City News was told therewere a multitude of issues relatedto the management and runningof the marina, including lack ofmaintenance and servicesavailable from this working marina.

Yanchep Sun City has leased themarina since buying the AlanBond created ‘Yanchep SatelliteCity’, a 5000 plus hectareresidential development.

Yanchep was the dream of AlanBond, a self made millionaire, who wanted a huge marina thatcould stage the Amercia's Cupyacht race, be the home forAtlantis Marine Park (similar toSeaworld), have a world classgolf course at Sun City and ClubCapricorn resort.

The story of Yanchep SatelliteCity actually began with AlanBond acquiring the land holding inthe mid-1900s.

In the 1970s, he sold the land tothe Japanese company, TokyuCorporation, trading as YanchepSun City Pty Ltd - They had themarina lease renewed a coupleof times. The existing leaseexpires on 9 November, 2014.

While residential land develop-ment in Yanchep and Two Rockshas exploded, there appears tobe little or no interest in leasingthe marina.

When Adrian Fini purchased theTwo Rocks Shopping Centre in1999, it was believed he wasinterested in taking over themarina and tavern site.

Last week, Michael Bower fromBlueport Development said: “FiniGroup will not be participating in thelease of the Two Rocks Marina.”

Jarrod Rendell from AcumenDevelopment Solutions, recentlyappointed manager of CapricornVillage Joint Venture includingAtlantis Beach development atTwo Rocks, said: “Neither Acuman

or CVJV will be tendering on theTwo Rocks Marina.”

The Sun City News is aware thatYanchep Beach Joint Venture(YBJV), the major commercialdeveloper in the region, have beeninvestigating the marina lease.

Jon Kelly, executive manager andeconomic analyst for YBJV, saidthere were infrastructure risksand operating issues that madeleasing the marina very high risk -“YBJV is not going to touch it.”

Unless an unknown bidder can befound, and willing to comply withthe DoT tender requirements, itwould appear the Department willhave to take over management ofthe marina.

The WA State Government doesnot appear to have made anybudget allowances formanagement or maintenance atthe Two Rocks Marina.

Other issues that affect the TwoRocks marina, include theadvanced erosion issues on thenorth side, and sand build-up atthe south end.

On the WA Heritage Council StateRegister it states: “Two Rocksprecinct including: Two RocksShopping Centre and Tavern andLimestone Retaining Wall;

Atlantis Marine Park, the WaugalMonoliths, King Neptune andother sculptures by Mark LeBuse; the former Sun City LandSales Office ‘Prickle’ and the TwoRocks Marina together form aprecinct that has historic andsocial significance as adevelopment carried out in the1970s and 1980s by BondCorporation with the intention ofpromoting tourism andcommercial enterprise.

“The various elements of thedevelopment have aestheticsignificance as examples ofexcellence in architectural, landscape and sculptural designfrom that period.

“The precinct as a whole, and theKing Neptune sculpture inparticular, is a prominent landmarkand has social significance to theTwo Rocks community.

“The Limestone Retaining Wallhas aesthetic value for itscontribution to the coastallandscape in the vicinity of theTwo Rocks Marina.”

A number of ventures includingTwo Rocks Sea Rescue and SunCity Yacht Club have sub-leaseslinked to the overall marina lease.

Safe start to abalone season

Last Sunday, saw the start of the2014/15 abalone season.Fortunately there was minimalswell, flat seas and an outgoingtide making the one off ‘madness’easier for Yanchep Surf LifeSaving Club and Two Rocks SeaRescue to patrol.

Many abalone hunters werebamboozled by the ongoing road

works and limited access to theYanchep Lagoon to find theabalone.

There was less than 100 peopleon the reef trying to find Abalone- Only a very few achieved thelegal bag limit.

Department of Fisheries inspectorswere kept busy checking for

current licences, bag limits andthat all abalone were legal size.

Several people had undersizeabalone seized and face possiblebig fines.

The next permitted abalone catchday is on Sunday 7 December, between 7:00am and 8:00am.

Editorial - Terry LoftusOver the past two months, thecrew at the Sun City News hasbeen reviewing, planning andfact-finding a variety of issuesrelated to providing ‘the bestlocal community newspaperpossible’.

One of the most outstandingfeatures to show very quickly,is the constant ‘interaction’with readers. For example, just about every issue of theSun City News carries at leasta page full of letters to theeditor.

By comparison, over the pastmonth, the NCT hasn’tpublish one letter from withinits region.

Another interesting observationis the amount of local inputfrom local residents to helpprovide the best possiblelocal newspaper.

Between now and the start of2015, the Sun City Newscrew are working on a coupleof new exciting projects thatwill start early next year.

In addition, the Sun CityNews can confirm thatadvertising rates will not beincreasing next year. They willbe reviewed in July 2015, butat the moment there aresome great deals availablefor advertisers who bookongoing advertising.

Call me on 0414 425 858 fora personal quote. You will besurprised at how cheap it is.

Also, community groups, don’tforget there is only two weeks

to go before the Sun CityNews Grants close - See fulldetails inside.

Finally, as 2014 draws to anend, the Sun City News willbe relocating - Don’t believethe wild rumours that we areclosing.

In fact, by January 2015, youwill be surprised at what theSun City News is providing asa local community newspaper.

Watch this space!

Your lettersFast food link?I do not think it is myimagination, but since theopening of McDonalds atYanchep we have had a bigincrease in people in carsdoing burnouts and generallyhooning in the area.

Outside the junction of theshopping centre and MarmionAvenue the evidence is clearmassive black tyre marksalong with the variousMcDonalds wrappers litteredaround the area.

There are three stolen carsdown Marmion Avenue thismorning, two of them burntout. Again, this could benothing to do with the fastfood outlet but I have notseen this before in the fiveyears I have lived in Yanchep.

There are a number ofchildren late for schoolbecause they have beenhaving breakfast atMcDonalds. I cannot see anypositives for the outlet exceptfor them buying a few sportsuniforms, trying to buy theirway in to the community.

A Barker, Yanchep.

Odd associationI was driving along MarmionAvenue, last week, andnoticed the eye-catchingbanner ‘Allara for all.com.au’,advertising another newsuburb development betweenYanchep and Eglinton.

Anyone who has worked inan X-ray department will befamiliar with the acronymALARA.

This is the motto which everyradiographer will work towards. When taking xrays for a

patient, the radiation dosedelivered should be As LowAs Reasonably Achievable.

Though spelt slightlydifferently, I thought it a littleunfortunate that a new villagewould always make me thinkit was echoing the ethos ofliving as low as reasonablyachievable (for all).

It does not strike me as agood association.

It brings to mind images of a‘Just good enough’ design, with non-existent facilitiescoupled with poor infra-structure.

Considering the recentdiscussions regarding localamenities and their continuedsetbacks, maybe ALARA isan apt association to Allara.

It is time the developers andWanneroo council mademore effort along the northerncorridor. Please start byreplacing the sticks for busstops with bus shelters.

How about calling Allara,Awapp? It stands for AsWonderful As PracticallyPossible.

Wouldn't that be somethingworth advertising?

Caterina Watson, Yanchep.

Scraggly parks are vitalAn interesting letter aboutparks in Two Rocks hasprompted me to point out toTwo Rocks residents that thescraggly parks are naturalenvironment and precioushabitat to many of ourcherished animals and birds.

With development comingever closer it is vital for us to

retain as much naturalenvironment as we possiblycan - As soon as we introducelawns and structures, wehave robbed the reptiles, birds and insects of the cycleand crucial interactions andmovement.

As the population and trafficin our town increases, weneed to have a very clearpriority of protecting andprioritising our wildlife andnatural features. They will besnatched away if we do notstate clearly that we value thenatural beauty of our town.

Ronel Smit, Two Rocks.

Road concernsA meeting has been called formidweek, mid-afternoon tocomplain about people usingthe Indian Ocean Drive.

As a local Redfield Park, resident of many years, I feelit right to reply to thecomplainers of the area.

The latest complaint beingthat licensed vehicles areusing the Indian Ocean Drive.

When I retired to the area Iknew that the Indian OceanDrive was on the horizon, although it was actuallyrunning late.

Currently it is used by peopleto access our beautiful coastand the towns of Lancelin andCervantes.

These are world classdestinations which bringtourism dollars and jobs, Idon't remember being toldthat they were exclusively forthe few people who lived inthe immediate area.

It is obvious that the peoplewho used to move to

Redcliffe and Jandakot tocomplain about aircraft noisehave now found other otherthings to whinge about.

As taxpayers the peopleusing the road are fullyentitled to do so. Of moreconcern might be the localpeople who ride unlicensedmotorbikes on our roads.

A further area for concernmight also be the numerousfamilies living in illegaldwellings, frequently beinglittle more than sheds, hencethe name ‘Shedfield Park’.

When these rampantproblems are finished withthere will be time to sort outthe ‘problems in the mind’,relating to the Indian OceanDrive.

Heaps of local kids, alongwith some mums and dadswandered the streets ofYanchep and Two Rocks in allsorts of Halloween gear. Hereare a few snapped by the SunCity News photographer.

Your lettersInternet connectionI note that a new developer isin town - Really hard to miss.

My concern is that servicesare not keeping up with theneeds of the community.

I recently rang severalinternet providers to be toldthere are no servicesavailable.

Telstra informed me that thereare no ports available and willnot be for at least the next sixmonths.

They are not sure when anyADSL will be available. I wastold to ring back in six monthsfor an update.

Young people need internetfor study as there are nohigher education facilitiesavailable in the area.

To obtain employment youneed access to the internet.

These days many people paytheir bills on line or connectwith Centrelink and othergovernment providers.

Many people use the internetfor a large part of their sociallife. These days there is noplanning only development.

Developers are creating yetanother social problembecause there is no socialneeds analysis carried outbefore development isapproved.

It would seem obvious thatpeople would expect to beable to connect with theinternet in this day and age.

I am wondering how manypeople are waiting for internetconnection already? How dowe make our voice heard?

Joan Hutcheson, Two Rocks.

Mowing down the daisiesDear Sweet People of TwoRocks, can anyone tell mewho mowed down ourbeautiful daisies along ourscenic main road at the heightof flower season?

Can anyone clarify the motivebehind such a badly-timed,unjustifiable action?

For those taking walks anddriving through alike, the

natural splendour of thewaving grass and daisiesbrought much joy and delight.

Suddenly some mindlessowner of a machine drives intotown and defaces the roadside, robbing the heart of Two Rocksof its natural beauty, which hasbeen here, in this way, formany, many years.

May I remind such people, and all involved in this type ofsenseless activity, that thepeople of Two Rocks came tolive here for its natural beauty.

By all means clip andmanicure the lawns of TheReef and the adjacent park -that type of lawn is clippedand manicured.

The free, wavy grasses alongour roads are meant to wavefree in the wind. The grassobstructs no-one's view and itcauses no bother to anyonein any way.

Besides, our beautiful pinkgalahs graze there, and asthese birds are a majorattraction, their environmentshould be protected.

Please leave Two Rocksbeautiful roadside unmowed -the roadside was againmowed very badly this week, leaving mangled brancheseverywhere, and gashes ofdestruction where themachine was pushed intofoliage.

If this mowing is being doneto provide someone withwork, please rather removeall the litter from our roadside, and leave the beautiful grass, daisies and natural beauty ofthe town as it is.

There are plenty of toy townsto choose from in MarmionRoad; plenty of artificialgardens and clipped lawns.

Two Rocks is loved for itsnatural beauty; the recentmowing has again left ourtown's entrance and drive-through looking dreadfullybleak.

Ronel Smit, Two Rocks.

Hooning idiotsFor three nights in the lastweek my family and I havebeen abruptly awoken bysome ridiculous people atunfathomable hours.

These people werescreeching, doing burn outsand whatever else they wastetheir tyres and time on, downthe main road outside myhouse.

The first two times I didn't getup to look at my window buton the third time I did.

I looked out my window at1:02am after hearingscreeching.

I saw a white, flat bed tradietruck slowly screechingcontinuously down the entirelength on the road thendecided to be even moreintelligent and continue thescreeching slow across thesmall roundabout, on thewrong side of the road.

Now I know a lot of you willsay 'yeah cool burn outs' etc,but myself and probablymany others are being keptawake and having to go outand see the fresh blackmarks covering our roadseach morning.

This is not 'cool'. I am fed upand cannot even begin tounderstand what wouldposses someone to goscreeching around, wastingfuel, tyres, ruining the roadand disturbing everyone.

Come on, seriously, stopbeing dangerous idiots.

Kelsey Baker, via Sun CityNews Facebook page.

HoonsIt’s just after 1:00am in themorning and yet another burnout at the bottom of TwoRocks Rd, called the police, awhite ute with ladders on theback virtually stood still on theroundabout spinning histyres, dread to think of thetyre marks on the road.

They will most probably looklike the ones at theintersection by McDonalds.

I’m not normally one tocomplain but ever since the24hour McDonalds has arrivedthere has been more hooning, nearly every night, plus twoburnt out cars down Marmion.

I’m not saying it didn’t go onbefore but it’s a lot more since.

Ok, McDonalds is here tostay but why does it have tobe open 24 hours.

Would be great to maybe geta petition or something just toclose it at night then it willmaybe stop some hooningand stop making Yanchepand Two Rocks sound like amotoplex.

Sharon Baker, via Sun CityNews Facebook page.

So wrongThe Sun City News wantedmoney to be spent onlowering the Skybridgeboardwalk when that moneycould have easily paid forworks at Oldham Reserve.

Does the paper only want togrumble?

I notice our councillors arebeing bullied by the paper inevery issue. I do not blamethem for not wanting anyemail contact with the paper.

I have always been able tocontact the councillors andhave found them to be veryhelpful.

DD, submitted via the Sun City News web site.

Editor’s comment: The SunCity News has neversupported the lowering of theboardwalk. I think DD needsto get his facts right beforegiving anyone a blast.

Disgrace is puttingit mildlyI'm building in Yanchep onBeachhaven Drive afterselling in Madeley last year.

I can't believe the lack ofgrass and open space uphere compared to othersuburbs in the council area.

The council obviously don'twant to send their mowingteam up the coast.

Capricorn declare that theirnew master plannedcommunity has all this ‘PublicOpen Space’ but it's notusable space for the kids, justscrub. Compared to how wellKingsway is maintained it's ajoke.

Mixed views over firebreak

There are mixed views inrelation to a firebreak accessthe City of Wannerooproposes to build betweenthe 14 exclusive Brazier Roadproperties on the west sideand their direct access to thebeach front.

A couple of these residentshave been providingextensive correspondence tothe Sun City News, butlabelling every email ‘this if foryour information and notpublication’.

Chris Morrison, Director ofCity Business at the City ofWanneroo, told the Sun CityNews: “The safety concernsregarding the Brazier Roadproperties first came to theCity's attention following aninvestigation of complaints tothe former Department ofEnvironment and Conservation(now Department of Environ-

ment Regulation) regardingthe unauthorised clearing ofportions of the foreshorereserve. Reserve 20561 is a‘Class A’ reserve and includesa Bush Forever site.

“The fire safety requirementwas identified following aninspection by the City's ChiefFire Officer. Once the firesafety risk was identified as‘high’ to ‘very high’, due tohigh winds, high oil content inthe surrounding vegetationand lack of access.

“The existing cleared areasand the gradient of the landwas inadequate to support afire services vehicle (normally14 tonne). As a result, a newESAT (Emergency ServicesAccess Track) was required.”

In May 2014, the councilapproved spending of$170,000 to $190,000 to buildthe firebreak track.

The Sun City News under-stands a couple of residentsdon’t want the firebreak built, allowing access to thebeachside of their properties.

Mr Morrison said: “Someowners of the Brazier Roadproperties have expressedconcerns regarding the needfor the ESAT. However, theCity has obligations under firesafety legislation that cannotbe avoided.”

The City of Wannereoo hasheld extensive publicconsultation with letter dropsto the Brazier Road propertiesand three meetings with theowners on 20 August, 18September and 16 October.

Firebreaks are a legalrequirement of all propertyowners of vacant blocks ofresidential land. Propertyowners are required to clearfirebreaks by 15 November,

each year and maintain themuntil the following April.

Firebreak inspections areregularly carried out on allvacant residential, rural,semi-rural, special rural andspecial residential landannually and if notconstructed, an on the spotfine of $250 is issued to theowner of the property.

Unfortunately, due to the banimposed by some of theresidents, the Sun City Newsis unable to provide thereasons why some residentsdon’t want this firebreak built.

Sometimes it is difficult tounderstand some of thedecisions of council, but inthis instance, an obvious firerisk has been identified andthe City of Wanneroo is legallybound to resolve the concern- Imagine if they ignored itand there was a fire.

Memory lane therapyTherapy assistant, Debbie Davison fromBethanie Beachside found herself increasinglyfrustrated with the lack of quality resources touse in her aged care music programme, so shedecided to create her own.

With the help of her audio engineer son, Leigh,Debbie produced an original music DVD to usein her weekly sing-along sessions at Bethanie.

‘Memory Lane Therapy – Sing-Along forSeniors’ is a compilation of old-time favourites. The songs are set to captivating movies androving images, displaying the lyrics to singalong.

When Debbie first introduced the DVD atBethanie, the reception from the residents wasoverwhelmingly encouraging.

“They were standing up and applauding,”Debbie says. “I come from a musicalbackground, I was a singer and used to play ina couple of bands, so music is my forte in thetherapy team.”

“Music puts everyone in a good mood,” Debbiesays. “The residents with dementia love it. Theyhaven’t forgotten how to sing.”

After proving such a hit, the self-made DVD isnow being made available worldwide. If youwould like a copy go to memorylanetherapy.com

Look out for pest birds inTwo Rocks area

Two Rocks residents arebeing asked to lookout forunusual birds after thepossible sighting of foursparrows in the area.

Department of Agricultureand Food biosecurity officer,Glen Coupar, said the birdswere photographed at a birdbath in a local resident’sbackyard.

“The resident, a bird watcherwho knows his birds, photographed the suspectbirds but unfortunately thephoto is blurry andconfirmation was notpossible,” Mr Coupar said.

“There have been a numberof incursions of sparrows inthe South West this year and

the department is relying oncommunity help to ensurethere are no other non-nativebirds in the area.

“Tree and house sparrowsare declared pests in WesternAustralia and are often foundnear ports, after arriving onships.

“Sparrows have the potentialto damage grain andhorticultural crops, spreaddisease and compete withnative birds for food.

“They can also foul buildingsthrough nesting, roosting andfeeding behaviours.”

Surveillance has beenundertaken by DAFWAofficers but the sparrows

have not been located. “Weare asking the community toassist in being on the lookoutfor these pest birds,” MrCoupar said.

We did it and survived to tell the storyRecently, 21 Gingin cubs, scouts, venturers, friends and leadersrecently took part in a 20 hourfamine to help support the Manilascouts and their families.

The challenge to not eat for 20hours, at times, this proved to bequite difficult. They were allowedwater and barley sugar and thiswas to be a real life saver - Someof the kids thought they wouldnever eat again.

Printed photos from the Manilatrip were put up on the walls as areminder of who they were doingthis for and those poor familieswho go without food for days.

This helped to make the challengeeasier and appreciate that wehave food every single day.

The group played lots of gamesthat they had learnt in Manilawhich helped to pass the timeaway and keep us from thinkingof our grumbling tummies.

One of the games involvedcoconuts and the kids thoughttheir luck had changed and wewere going to eat the coconut -sadly they didn’t.

The group sat around the campfire and sang songs and imaginedthose gooey hot marshmallowsthat always seem to come withcamp fires.

The next morning was a bit toughas the older kids where reallystarting to feel the hunger painsand feeling very listless, but moregames helped pass the time away.

As the 20 hours was drawingmuch closer, one of the lovelylady arrived with the sausages -Yes, food at last.

The smell of cooking onions andsausages was quiet torturous forsome, several kids werebeginning to drool.

Finally, it was time to eat and itwas amazing to think only after 20hours how much your bodyadjusts to going without food. There were a few belly aches.

Python, Jane Taylor, said: “I’mhappy to say we all survived andI’m sure we would do it all overagain knowing how some of thesepeople feel day after day.

“Well done to all that participatedwe are very proud of you all.”

After the 20 hour Famine thescouts and ventures and a few oftheir friends went on to do asurvival challenge?

This is where they have to buildtheir own shelters, usingwhatever they could find in thebush, bringing their own food, cooking implements, sleepingstuff and survive in the wilds ofGingin for the night out at thescout hall.

The Venturers set up theirshelters on the Friday night asthey wanted the activity to be atough experience.

Python Jane said: “I must admitwe have some very good survivalinstincts among us all. Heath and

Riley caught themselves a rabbit, skinned and gutted it thenrotisseried it over the fire anddinner was served.

“It was a wee bit tough but a greateffort and I’m sure you guys willsurvive where ever you are put.”

There where some great sheltersbuilt and the best bush showeryou could ever wish to have evenwith its very own hot water, pureluxury.

Heath and Riley decided that hotwater was a must on these coldnights and proceeded to make ithappen - First a 44 gallon drum

cut in half and placed verysecurely over a fire pit then filledwith water to boil away, nice freshwater from the lake.

This was then poured into abucket suspended from a tree withmany, many holes drilled in thebottom for the best shower ever -Two of the cubs decided that itwould make the best bath everand it was the warmth that theyneeded from playing the freezingcold, but very shallow lake.

They had so much fun playing inthe lake on the boogie boardseven Ebony the camp dog was inher element.

The survival challenges are agreat experience and they areplanning another next year - Itgave the scouts a real sense ofadventure, survival andindependence.

They all had a great weekend, knowing they had helped manyfamilies with the money raisedand the donations that werereceived - Thanks to everyonethat made donations.

This is the true meaning ofscouts, helping those lessfortunate than themselves.

Resource/exploration drilling commencing

Image Resources is a mineralexplorer with a landholdingand an expanding mineralsands resource base in theNorth Perth Basin of WesternAustralia as well as mineralsands projects in the EuclaBasin.

The company is focused onthe exploration and develop-ment of heavy mineral sandsdeposits in the North PerthBasin; extending from 40km

to 200km north of Perth. Thisregion is a well establishedminerals sands province, withexcellent existinginfrastructure and a localworkforce with extensivemineral sands operatingexperience.

The company’s current focusis on the Boonanarring andAtlas projects at North PerthBasin - They recentlyannounced that four programs

of works have been approved,a 257 hole, Stage 1, drillingprogram is expected to startlater this month, anendeavour to makeBoonanarring a standaloneoperation and concurrentlyexpand other areas intopotential parallel operations.

All holes planned in thisprogram will be within theRed Gully-Boonanarring-Gingin North- Gingin South-Chandala region.

One of the programs includesinfill drilling within the GinginNorth Resource and itsnorthern extensions potentiallylinking that resource andextension with theBoonanarring Resource.

This is the largest drillingprogram in stage one andincludes 132 holes.

The delineated Gingin NorthResource is made up of threestrands. However, interpretationsuggests a proliferation of sixstrands contained within a600 metre width in the GinginNorth Mining lease.

These strands continue for atleast a further 750m north ofthe Gingin North site. Theseextensions will be tested for afurther one kilometre north tosee if there is a link up to themain Boonanarring resourcewhich contains two mainstrands.

A second, yet just asimportant target, is the Gingin

South area where 22 holesare planned.

There are two objectives forthis program. First, to test forany continuation of the 5.5kmGingin South deposit in anortherly direction potentiallylinking with the Gingin Mineover a distance of sevenkilometre.

The Gingin mine was minedby Iluka over a 2.5kmdistance. Secondly, and justas importantly, to test aninterpreted eastern parallelstrand that is 14 km long.

This strand was interpretedfrom a recent groundmagnetic survey completedby the company.

The significance of thiseastern parallel strand maybe similar to that atBoonanarring where theeasternmost strand has amuch higher average HMgrade and zircon percentagethan the western strand.

A third target is the northernextension of the high gradeBoonanarring deposit where20 holes are planned.

No previous drilling has beencarried out in these areas onthe west side of the BrandHighway.

These targets will be testedover several months startingin November.
