ROUND TABLE: GLOBAL THREAT TO DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL: TRADE WARS (11:45 – 12:45) The pioneer countries of the global economic system have made a serious effort towards the liberalization of international trade from the GATT agreement to the World Trade Organization. However, since the global financial crisis of 2008, the escalating search for protectionism in the world economy has gained a different dimension with the “trade wars” that have deepened in recent months. The deepening of protectionist tendency and “trade wars”, in this respect, pose a global threat to the “Development for all” focus of the leading countries.
