Squirrel class

Summer 2017

This term squirrel class have been learning all about Great Britain. We used atlases and learnt about the Countries in Great Britain, the capital cities and the seas around it. We enjoyed working together to make a 3D map.

We learnt about some important times and people in the history of Great Britain, focusing on Queen Victoria. We had fun making cakes out of play dough and being bakers in our Great British Bake-off area.

At the end of June the school had a multicultural week. We made African masks using lots of dots and then did a dance with them. We visited a different country in each class we went to.

Squirrel class have had a very sporty term. We were all lucky to be invited to Taverham High School to take part in activities with their sports leaders. We played a team game and did an obstacle course.

14 of squirrel class went to the UEA to take part in their Quad Kids event. It was a lovely sunny day for our running, throwing and jumping competitions. Drayton Infant school came 1st in the 300m running event, and took third place overall!

In July we had a brilliant sports day. We enjoyed a carousel of activities in the morning then our families came in to class with us to make some sports posters. We all had a picnic on the school field. In the afternoon we watched and took part in the class running competitions.

In art we learnt about the Impressionist work of Monet, and learnt about pointillism. We produced paintings in the style of these artists which we displayed for an exhibition for our families to look at.

Squirrel class have really enjoyed their time in year 2 and at Drayton Infant school.
