Summer Units Summer units are available all year. Canvas tents w/tarps, bunks and mattresses (SU2 & Staff City only) are usually in place by the end of April and water is on by April 15th. Remaining tents/bunks/mattresses are up by June 15th. During Resident Camp, carports are in place at all units. The larger (2-troop) sites have two. Be advised that these carports are anchored to the ground and are not to be moved. Roads to summer units are not plowed in winter. Campers may set up their tents on the platforms, or on the ground. Each unit has a wash stand (seasonal) and a latrine (seasonal water, latrine available all year). All units also have a solar powered device charger. Each charger has 2 USB ports, and a 12v outlet. Adapters are available to provide 2 additional USB ports. Keep in mind that all building and program areas with electricity have an AC powered charger with 3 AC outlets and USB ports. All tents, bunks, and mattresses are removed at the conclusion of resident camp, usually around Aug 15th. Abenaki - Summer Unit 1 This site is one of our smaller sites, and includes a latrine as washstand. Normally it is set-up for 16 campers (four 2-person tents on each side of the campsite). Each half has a picnic table and fire ring. The forest floor makes up the camping surface. Excellent for small, 1-patrol size Troop. It is the closest summer campsite to the main parking lot/basketball court, as well as Scoutcraft, Nature Lodge, and the Climbing Tower.

City only) are usually in place by the end of April and water is on by April 15th. Remaining

tents/bunks/mattresses are up by June 15th. During Resident Camp, carports are in place at all

Abenaki - Summer Unit 1

This site is one of our smaller sites, and includes a latrine as washstand. Normally it is set-up for

16 campers (four 2-person tents on each side of the campsite). Each half has a picnic table and

fire ring. The forest floor makes up the camping surface. Excellent for small, 1-patrol size

Troop. It is the closest summer campsite to the main parking lot/basketball court, as well as

Scoutcraft, Nature Lodge, and the Climbing Tower.

Cayuga - Summer Unit 2

Cayuga is the largest campsite we have and includes a washstand and latrine. Normally the site

is set-up to accommodate 36-40 campers, however that can be increased if necessary as this site

has lots of room to move in additional platforms/tents. The site is set-up to camp two separate,

smaller troops. It is divided (if necessary) into 2A and 2B. The ground cover is partially grassed

which is kept mowed/trimmed. It is by far the most level/spacious which makes it the ideal site

to set-up additional personal tents. It is the closest campsite to the Trading Post as well as the

Handicraft and Waterfront Program areas. The site is in high demand at all times! It does border

Abenaki and Susquenango sites. Susquenango has electric which can be utilized if the site is

vacant for its users have given you permission.

Chippewa - Summer Unit 3

Chippewa is a medium-sized campsite which is normally set-up for 16 campers, however, it is

possible to add a couple more tent platforms in order to accommodate that slightly larger

troop. The site has two picnic tables, a latrine and a washstand w/bulletin board. The camping

surface is all grass and is kept neatly mowed. It's very centrally located; close to the Trading

Post, and the Handicraft & Waterfront Program areas. Coffee is served at the Quartermaster area

at 5am Mon-Fri during resident camp. This site is the closest to the freshly brewed

coffee! There is some vehicle traffic as it is on the same road that leads to three other campsites,

the majority of the traffic being Ranger Crew and Camp Administration. Enjoy!

The Campsite!!

Dakota - Summer Unit 4

Dakota is a medium sized campsite, normally set-up for 20 campers. Due to the slope of the

ground; there is little room for additional platforms/tents. This unit has a newly constructed

washstand, and a latrine. The latrine building itself is also for the neighboring site as well, but

the inside is strictly for Dakota. There are two picnic tables. The ground is a mixture of grass

and forest floor. The site does not have regular vehicle access except for emergencies and the

Ranger Staff (gear will be delivered to your site). The Dining Hall is a quick walk down the

trail. If you have a troop trailer, it may be left at the Dining Hall parking area.

Delaware - Summer Unit 5

Road to Paradise - Delaware

Delaware is a large campsite! Typically it is set up for 30 campers; however more

tents/platforms can be added as needed. Be advised, as this site can/will accommodate two

smaller troops if necessary. There is a latrine, washstand, picnic tables, and a large fire

ring. This site is located just south of "Summit Rock" which is the highest point on the

Reservation at 1980 feet. While the site is all grass; the ground is very un-even so it is difficult

to keep the grass as short as we'd like. It's all part of Delaware experience! There is road access,

but it is a very rough road. Only vehicles with 4WD/AWD and high clearance should make the

journey up. We hope to have a new, more vehicle friendly road, built in the near future. The

Ranger Crew will gladly move your troops gear (and trailer if necessary) to the site. On a hot

summer day; this is the place to be, aside from the waterfront of course! Several years ago we

did a lumber harvest up here on the ridge which opened up a lot of the area. Great place to view

the night sky, and to enjoy peace and quiet!

Lenape - Summer Unit 6

Lenape is much like its neighbor; Delaware, only smaller but with the same amount of tent

space. The tents are a little closer together, but there is still lots of room for your troop to spread

out. The ground much more level than Delaware as well. This site can also accommodate 2

small troops if the need arises. Lots of peace and quiet up here with limited vehicle access. The

Ranger Crew will deliver your gear, and trailer if necessary. Like Delaware, this site has

benefited from a recent lumber cut which has opened things up considerably. The dining hall is

all downhill, and of course uphill on the return!

Minominee - Summer Unit 7

This site is the closest to the Dining Hall! We have made some improvements here over the past

few years. It is located on a hillside, and a troop trailer cannot be put at the site. The trailer may

be placed at Dining Hall parking area which is a very short distance away. Currently there are

15 tent platforms; adding more is difficult due to the terrain. There are not ideal areas for

personal tents either. The site does have a washstand as well. We will be posting more pictures

soon!

Mohican - Summer Unit 9

Mohican has transformed dramatically over the years. This site is the closest to the Shooting

Sports program area and the Shower Building. In 2016 a new washstand was built to replace the

original which fell victim to a fallen tree. Several troops have made some wonderful

improvements to the site as well. The site is all grass and is kept immaculate! An access trail

has been marked out to provide a link to Tuscarora's 15-mile trail system. There is a lot of foot

traffic as Scouts and Staff travel to/from the ranges.

Onondaga - Summer Unit 11

Onondaga is at the south end of the parade field making for easy access to events (like morning

and evening flag) and other activities. The site encompasses a large area and the tents are well

spread out. It is close to the new shower/toilet facility. The site is designed for two units, but

there is plenty of room for all! The site is currently set up for 32 but additional platforms/tents

can be added as necessary. It is also the 2nd closest site to the Shooting Sports program area.

Seneca - Summer Unit 12

Seneca is off the west side of the parade field; close to the action! This has become a very

popular site and is ideal for large units. We have just recently reconfigured the tent

platforms. This is the closest site to Council Point where we have our opening/closing

campfires. Its also right on Summit Lake! Great for fishing and enjoying those cool night

breezes off the spring fed lake!
