Summer Amnesty* to Support Our Platoon ***This program is only open to Sloatsburg Library card holders. ***
During these difficult economic times and in order to help our patrons regain
their borrowing privileges, The Sloatsburg Public Library will offer a Summer
Amnesty Period from July 2—August 10. As part of our Summer Reading
Program, the library has adopted a platoon and we are encouraging the children of Sloatsburg to
write letters or make a card, as well as, contribute to care packages we will be sending to our platoon. These con-
tributions will offset the fines owed as follows:
Guidelines:
Any SLOATSBURG resident who currently has fines or lost Sloatsburg items blocking the use of his/her library
card can have these removed from their account by doing the following:
1. Come to the Circulation Desk with your library card. Tell a staff member that you would like to make use of
the Amnesty Program.
2. In order to clear your fines or charges, you must bring in the appropriate number of items as explained below
of non-perishable food items or toiletries from the approved list also below, in which the Library will send on
your behalf to our platoon.
3. For each charge of any type you should bring in four items for up to $20: $1-20= 4 items ; $21-40= 8 items;
$41-60= 12 items, etc.
4. If you return a lost Sloatsburg item, no fines will be charged and you must bring in 4 items of non-perishable
food or toiletries. LOST ITEMS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES CANNOT BE CONSIDERED IN THIS
AMNESTY PROGRAM.
5. If you have lost or misplaced your card, bring in the proper identification (school id, driver’s license, or pass-
port). The Sloatsburg Public Library will replace your card for free during this amnesty program.
6. Any child (up to 12 years old) who has fines on his/her card can write a letter to a soldier and make a picture
to waive their fines. Please do not include any personal information (i.e. home address).
