Hummingbird Feeder

During a typical summer, Sommer Farm hosts an annual Hummingbird Festival. Research Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and their feeding habits. Get creative and use materials in your home to create a hummingbird feeder, fill it with homemade nectar, and see if you can attract a hummingbird!

Donovan Park is home to some fantastic native prairie plantings. These are important for pollinating insects. Go for a walk in Donovan Park and take a picture or draw an insect you see. Can you name it?

Share to Win! Each week, we will draw a winner for our weekly prize! Everyone who signs up for the program, will be entered. Want an extra entry? Go to the Peoria Park District’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/PeoriaParkDistrict/ and comment on the Summer Challenge post with a picture of you completing the challenge!
