REFUND POLICY1. SHRS reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine

classes and/or change instructors. If insufficient enrollment causes a class to be cancelled, participants will receive either a full refund, credit, or the option to transfer into another class.

2. All program change requests, including online registration, must be made in person, at the Community Center.

3. A $3 processing fee will be applied to all approved refunds, credits, or transfers.

4. A program change form must be received by the first day of class for a refund, credit, or transfer, less the $3 processing fee.

5. If the class has begun, a prorated amount will be determined based on the date of program change form. Requests will be honored until the second week of class.

6. Medical excuses will result in a prorated refund based upon the number of classes held prior to the date listed on the physician’s excuse.

7. SHRS reserves the right to remove any program participant who demonstrates improper or potentially harmful behavior. No refund will be given.

8. Due to the demand for participation in programs and the limited number of spaces available, refunds will not be issued for classes that participants are unable to attend.

9. Please allow four to six weeks for the refund check to arrive.

PRE-SCHOOL

Class sizes are limited. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Pre-school program is based on the recreation philosophy "Learning Through Play". Classes for the 3 year olds emphasize social and vocabulary skills, and large and small motor skills. Classes for 4 and 5 year olds emphasize social and vocabulary skills, large and small motor skills, kindergarten readiness, and homework (optional). All students will be working in our computer lab. We will also introduce Spanish. The kids will learn numbers, colors, some vocabulary words, and work on a Spanish "Let's Find Out" newspaper. In addition, students will participate in music, story time, art, and gym activities. Field trips will also be offered throughout the school year. Past trips include: Apple Orchard, Pumpkin Patch, Disney On Ice, and Lincoln Park Zoo. There is an additional fee for these trips and they are optional.

If you choose installments, the installment will be due the 5th of each month. If payment is not received by the 5th, a $35 fee will be assessed for late payment. Payment must be made at the Community Center during regular office hours. Children participating in Pre-school have the opportunity to sign up for extended hours. This program will help all working Parents who need extra time in the morning and/or afternoon. Children will participate in “quiet” activities such as enjoying a movie, board games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and a snack.

Take advantage of this GREAT summer deal! Children will participate in activities such as arts and crafts, music, outdoor games, and special event days. The first day of camp, a note will be sent home informing chil-dren and parents on what day and time your child's age group will be in the pool. Camp will be held each day regard-less of the weather. A weekly field trip is scheduled during regular camp time and is included in the fee as well as a water bottle and T-shirt. CHICAGO BULLS/SOX CO-OPThis week long, all day camp gives the two-sport athlete the ability to improve their offensive and defensive game in both basketball and baseball before heading back to school. 6 hours a day... quality instruction in two sports... this truly is a one-of-a-kind camp! Children will be divided by age and ability level. During the camp each player will compete in the Bulls Skills Competition and the White Sox Skills Competition. At the end of the summer, the top scores from all of the summer camps will advance to the finals on the floor at the United Center and/or U.S. Cellular Field. Each camper will receive:

Hip Hop is great class for those energetic ones who just love to move! We only use age appropriate music and hip hop dance moves to create a love for dance! Students will use this fast-paced and fun class to develop their coordination, rhythm, flexibility and self-expression. This class focuses on age appropriate hip hop dancing and music that your youth will love. They will not only learn high energy hip hop choreography but basic dance technique as well.

This fundamental cheer program introduces athletes to the basics of the sport of cheerleading: mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially. Athletes will learn and master basic skills of cheerleading: motions, voice, jumps, basic stunts, flexibility and confidence. The goal of the program is to equip each athlete with the fundamentals of cheerleading that will help him/her prepare for next level cheer. This is a great and inexpensive way to get involved in cheerleading and a fun way to gain experience in the sport. There are no tryouts for this particular program and new athletes, boys and girls, are welcome to join. At the end of the session, athletes will be able to recite chants, learn a basic cheer routine/dance and learn how to engage and excite a crowd. Attire: Plain black t-shirt and shorts with white cheer shoes. For safety, no barrettes, hair beads or pony tail holders with balls. Hair should be pulled away from the face, preferably in one ponytail.

SWIM PARENTS/GUARDIANS

IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT A PENALTY FOR PARENTS WHO DO NOT HONOR OUR RULES, AND CHILDREN WHO EAT PRIOR TO SWIM CLASS.

• If your child gets sick or is disruptive during swim class, your child will be suspended for the next 2 weeks. No refund or make up classes will be given.

• If the same child gets sick or is disruptive after returning to class, your child will be suspended from swim classes for 12 months. No refund or make up classes will be given.

• If the same child gets sick or is disruptive after the 12 month suspension, your child will be permanently suspended from our program. No refund or make up classes will be given.

SWIM CLASSES FOR ALL AGESThe staff at the South Holland Community Center hopes that the parents and children enjoy the variety of swim classes that are available. Instructors who are American Red Cross water safety certified, lifeguard certified, and/or CPR certified, teach all courses. Registration at designated times is essential to reserve your place in class, along with avoiding an unnecessary cancellation due to lack of enrollment.

No One is admitted to attend class after the 2nd week of classes.

GENERAL SWIM RULES• All those entering the pool must shower/rinse off first.• No running on the deck.• Street shoes are not allowed on the pool deck: Bare

foot or swim shoes.• Everyone must supply their own towel and lock for class.

RULES TO REMEMBERChildren 5 years of age and younger are permitted to use the opposite gender locker room with a parent. Please use bathroom stalls or shower for changing.

Children 6 years or older MUST use same gender locker room. Boys use boy’s locker room and girls use girl’s locker room. If you are uncomfortable with this rule, please make arrangements with another adult of the same gender to accompany your child. Proof of age may be required. No exceptions!

1. Children are not allowed in the members’ locker room under any circumstance.2. Children not enrolled in our classes are not allowed on deck unless they are 18 months or younger.3. No one is allowed to remain in the pool after class or to enter the spa unless he or she is a member. 4. Children may not sit alone in the lobby or locker room while their parents are in class.5. Children in diapers must wear a special swim diaper during every class.6. Please do not allow your child to eat 2 hours before class starts.7. No food or drink allowed on pool deck.8. Children should be on the deck 5 minutes prior to class starting.9. Children who are not on deck 10 minutes after the class starts may not participate that day.10. Free time is a privilege, and may be taken away from a child who misbehaves or disrupts class.11. Parents are responsible to drop off and pick up children ON TIME!12. No refunds, exchanges, or make-ups are given if a child misses class.

PRIVATE OR SEMI-PRIVATESWIM LESSONS

Those that are shy about being with a full class or just want the privacy of learning how to swim at your own pace, we provide both private and semi-private swim lessons. Our instructors can schedule children or adults by appointment only. Each session consists of four (4) classes of 45 minutes each. Semi-Private lessons are limited to two (2) family members, who will share instruction time. Anyone interested in these swim lessons can call the SHRS office at 331-2940. Our instructors will set up an appointment with you. Please notify the Community Center ASAP if you need to change your scheduled time. No make up or refunds for missed classes without a 24 hour notice. A lesson will be cancelled if a participant is 15 minutes late or more. This class will not be made up and no refund will be given. Do you find yourself feeling chronically stressed? So many of us are busy working and taking care of home, children, or aging parents, that it is easy to neglect taking care of ourselves. Mindfulness, which is living in the present moment and paying attention on purpose, is the key to taking good care of ourselves. The overall theme of this workshop will be self care. Self care is not complete without attention to both the body and mental/emotional well being. We will discuss the two types of stress, and how to manage it so that it does not negatively impact your health. We will also discuss mindful and healthy eating habits to avoid emotional eating and the benefits of regular exercise. To attend to mental/emotional well being, there will be guided relaxation and meditation techniques - tools to decrease the effects of stress, anxiety, and depression. PARK PERMITSAll groups of 30 or more are required to have a park permit. Only South Holland Residents 21 and older may obtain Park Permits. A $75* CASH, VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER ONLY fee plus a $200 refundable deposit are required at the time the reservation and permit are issued. South Holland Recreational Services reserves the right to set limits for occupancy at each individual park and will revoke any permit for violation of any park regulations and has the right to refuse any permit. (Deposit due at signing of contract. Rental fee due 30 days prior to Picnic).

*Veterans Park fee is $150 for permit.

SPECIAL NOTICE! NO DOGS!

The South Holland Department of Recreational Services and the South Holland Police Department are reminding residents that pets (on or off a leash) are NOT permitted in any South Holland Park.

Warm weather is here and the parks are being used by many area residents, especially children. Help keep our parks safe, healthy, in good condition, and absent of offensive odors by doing your part. Do not allow your animals in the parks and call the South Holland Police Department, 331-3131, if you observe anyone violating the Village Ordinance. Your call can remain anonymous. The Police Department will issue citations to offenders, but they need your assistance. BE PROUD OF YOUR PARKS!

MEMORIAL TREE FUNDThe Village of South Holland Memorial Tree Fund now makes it possible for everyone to share in the exciting project of supplementing the planting of trees where needed in the Village parks. The “Tree Fund” is a separate fund, established to purchase and plant trees in the parks. The need to plant trees continues and contributions to the fund allow a great number of trees to be planted. The donation of a tree is a living memorial to your loved one. A tree, approximately 2” to 3” in diameter and 10’ to 15’ tall costs about $250.00 depending on the type of tree. All donations are tax deductible and a receipt is furnished as well as a memorial certificate upon request.

MEMORIAL BRICK PAVER PROGRAM

Every visitor to the South Holland Botanical Garden will have the opportunity to see your gift to a friend, family member, loved one or business associate -- an engraved paving brick bearing their name, a few chosen words, or the name of one who lives forever in your memory.

For your donation of $100.00 you will have a commemorative brick placed in the Botanical Garden Path as well as a certificate acknowledging your contribution. Forms are available at the Community Center or by calling 708-331-2940.
