Monthly Newsletter of the Parents’ Guild ISSUE 09 Summer 2015
Time, I can’t believe how quickly time passes.
A remarkable young woman began her Valedictorian speech with the single
word “Time.” Danielle Rigau (Class of 2015) spoke to her 86 Villa sisters about

I remember it mentioned during the Parent Freshman Orientation not to blink
because before we knew our daughter’s high school career would be over.
It is with mixed emotions I send my eldest JEM off to college and prepare my
second for the same journey next year. Thankfully, my youngest JEM is a
freshman so I have a few years left before my nest is empty.
I am Lisa Pfiester and not only am I a parent of three Villa JEMS, an
ambassador for Villa Joseph Marie High School but most recently I have

Dear Villa Family, Love and blessings for a relaxing fun and safe summer! Hopefully everyone in our school family will “take”/“make” the time to enjoy “the gift of family” and together make new memories for a lifetime and beyond. There are simply no words to adequately express my gratitude to each and every person in our community for making my 22 years at Villa so wonderful and amazing. The support, trust and partnership with the Sisters, the Board of Directors, Parents’ Guild, Families, Students, Faculty, Staff and Administration have been such blessings in my life – know that each individual/person has touched and impacted my life; in unique and positive ways that have inspired, motivated and humbled me. My Villa family remains in my heart and prayers… Happy Summer! Always with love, Terri Michel

The planning is in full swing for the Parents’ Guild annual Fall fundraiser, the 2015 Mother-Daughter Tea. This event, a wonderful tradition for our Villa Family, is hosted by the Sophomore class. The day includes a tribute to our
Senior Moms presented by their daughters and a fashion show featuring formal attire modeled by our Sophomores.
Save the Date Sunday, October 18, 2015 | 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
The Crystal Tea Room 100 East Penn Square | Philadelphia, PA 19107
Invitations will be mailed late August/early September. Included in your invitation will be tickets to pre-purchase chances for our top three grand prize raffle items. Your prompt response will be truly appreciated. Donations Needed: We would be most grateful for your support in the way of donations during the summer months. For your convenience, there will be a donation box located at the school office between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., throughout the summer. Please remember that this is the largest fundraising event of the Parents’ Guild and all proceeds directly benefit our most precious “JEMS”, our daughters. Suggested items to donate include gift cards, concert tickets, theatre or movie tickets, tickets to sporting events, Kipling backpack, Vera Bradley, Pandora and Alex and Ani. Please feel free to be creative especially if you have a service or item you believe would be beneficial to this event. As always, we are most grateful for your extraordinary generosity. It is only through the kindness of our families that we are able to achieve success in our fundraising efforts for the school. The following is an un-audited summary of the Parents’ Guild Fund for the month ended June 30, 2015:
The major source of Guild revenue for the month of June 2015 included Baccalaureate Dinner reservations ($105). Major expenses included a donation to the Angel Fund ($13,000), final payment to the venue for the 2015 Baccalaureate Dinner ($8,187) and payment for the school’s annual graduation advertisement ($3,410), which acknowledges our recent graduates. Proceeds in excess of $16,000 from the 2014 Golf Outing remain in the ending balance pending their use by School Administration for facilities projects. In addition, proceeds in excess of $33,000 remain in the ending balance from the 2014 Mother-Daughter Tea and have been reserved for funding Campus Ministry service opportunities and the renovation of our Chemistry Lab.
