The Department is responsible for the School Division's 27 schools
and two service facilities. That is over 2.3 million2.3 million square feet square feet and 631 acres631 acres.
Over 40 employees of the Buildings & Grounds Department will work throughout the summer on various tasks including:
• Mowing/grounds• Moving furniture• Assisting contractors• Carpentry work• Electrical work• Mechanical work• Plumbing work

Throughout the summer several ongoing initiatives to reduce water & energy consumption will be underway including:
• Energy Star site verifications for eligible schools
• Low-flow sink aerator installations
• Irrigation control planning
• Lighting upgrades
