Alzheimer’s and Your Super Brain
NEW Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. More than five
million Americans are living with the disease. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another de-mentia. Five billion dollars are spent annually on healthcare for Alzheimer’s patients, and in 2013 Al-zheimer’s will cost the nation $203 billion; this num-ber is expected to rise to $1.2 trillion by 2050. The rate of Alzheimer’s in the US increased 40% from 2000 to 2010 and promises to increase dramatically as the Baby Boomer generation continues aging in-to its senior years. In this class you will learn to take control of your brain with easy-to-learn techniques and behaviors to develop healthy habits that can potentially stave off Alzheimer’s.

Radical Forgiveness
NEW Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping. This class is taught by instructor Judie Zamba. The pro-
cess of Radical Forgiveness challenges us to make a shift in our perception of the world and our interpre-tations of what happens to us in our lives. We have a choice to accept being a victim or not. Often times too, we say we have forgiven the situation but we still carry the imprint of the story. The victimized thought patterns can lead to resentment, depres-sion, anger issues and ill health in time. Radical For-giveness gives us the tools to work through the pain in a positive manner. We all have pain in our life but we do not have to experience pain and suffering.

Synchronized Swimming
NEW Ballet in the water! Synchronized swimming is not only beautiful but is a great way for your
child to make friends, tone her entire body, and learn fun dance moves in the water. The Synchro Belles Team is a nationally ranked synchronized swimming team and 6 time State Champions. The only pre-requisite for the beginners level is to possess the ability to float on their backs and swim one length of the pool - above or under water. It is also helpful if the child has any dance, gymnastic, tumbling or swimming background, but these are not manda-tory. Swimmers not only learn to set and achieve athletic goals but also focus on maintaining high academic standards. The Synchro Belles welcome your child to be a part of this growing sport.

FLAGLER Adult & Community Education | Summer 2013
Introducing your child to the art of dance at a young age sets the scene for a future that includes creative movement, flexibility, physical fitness, performance skills, and cultural appreciation. With classes for children as young as two years old through teens and adults, the North East Florida Dance
Academy (NEFDA), through the Flagler County Schools’ Adult and Community Education De-partment, offers a wide variety of dance genres to interest students of all ages. NEFDA is dedi-cated to providing classical dance training with instructors who hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Edu-cation, teaching certificates from Dance Masters of America and Dance Educators of America, and who conduct classes with the utmost professionalism. Daily classes are offered year round in ballet, tap, and acrobatics at progressive levels. Children ages 2 to 3 ½ also have fun with Creative Dance, those ages 4 to 5 ½ may participate in a special Pre-School Dance class. As children get older they may join classes in jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, and hip hop styles of dance. Children 12 and older may advance to Ballet on Pointe. Class fees are very reasonable and discounts are offered for multiple and combination classes.
Students enjoy the excitement of performing at the annual end of year recital, and other dance performance experiences. Encourage your children in the arts and let them experience the joy of dance and performance. Enroll Now: Summer Classes begin June 10th
