First : Questions
![Page 5: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Second (introduction) : Pathology is the study of the
nature and causes of diseases it underpins every
aspect of medicine , from diagnosis to monitoring , and
vital for research .
![Page 6: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Third : The process
picture that summarize process
• First The biopsy was taken by the surgeon .
![Page 7: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
• After taking the specimen these are the steps
done in lab.
![Page 8: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
1- Gross specimen examination:
the pathologist will examine the specimen , measuring
its size , describing its color and texture and determining
if any masses are present .
![Page 9: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
2- Fixation : the process where tissues are treated with agents
that retard the alteration of tissues , meanwhile normal
anatomical structures is maintained
![Page 10: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
3-Processing: remove the water from the tissues and replace
with a medium that soldufies to allow thin sections to be cut
![Page 11: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
3-Tissue embedding: the processed tissue is then embedded
in hot wax to form a tissue block . When the block hardens , it
is stable at room temp. indefinitely
![Page 12: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
4-Sectioning : is cutting the specimen in sections using a
microtome ( so the sections are very thin) depending on the type
of microscope that we will use the instrument used to cut the
specimen will be different
![Page 13: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
5- Mounting: is placing the specimen on microscope slides (glass
slides )
![Page 14: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
6- Staining the section :provides visual contrast
and may help identifying specific tissue
components
![Page 15: Summary (oral pathology in real life practice)](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022042607/55a743311a28abc63f8b4583/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
So the final diagnosis of this case was ( Epithlial-
myoepithlial carcinoma)

In summary :If Pathologists didn't exist ,
where would the answers come from ?
So, without pathologists , any answers
found would be questionable .
