We are almost at the end of the conference , but the beginning of what we hope will be a new IQLM era.

Where will attendees and others be able to view the conference proceedings? This conference highlighted the many accomplishments of individuals, organizations, workgroups and others which are part of the IQLM era. Next steps include: read from slide. IQLM, along with NQF plans on hosting a series of conferences this year and next year. These will address many of the issues raised during the partners meetings as well as payers and users of laboratory services. For the partners, we see another set of responsibilities. We will be calling on the partners for their assistance with these activities and perhaps others as they emerge. Our partners form the hear and soul of IQLM.

We want to be like Lance Armstrong and his team charging up the mountain together coordinated and communicating clearly with each other. This is the only way we will be able to deal with the challenges ahead and develop the kind of laboratory services that patients and communities deserve. As we move ahead our partners will help focus our attention on areas of opportunity such as the ones listed on this slide. Individuals and institutions clearly are the arms and legs of the IQLM.

Regardless of the great ideas IQLM as an organization may develop, someone has to take action at the local level for the change in culture we are trying to promote to occur. The series of linked activities seems to be the right one for IQLM to continue.

Improvements in patient safety and services will require efforts within and among institutions and across the entire spectrum of laboratory tests and services.

Fostering a quality systems approach to improvement efforts is essential to our success.Teamwork has been the theme that has got us to the point of having an IQLM and will be necessary for progress to occur across the many stakeholders in this process. In summary, it will be up to each of us and the organizations to which we belong to assure that IQLM achieves its goalsWe all have a role to play. You as the dedicated individuals who took part in this conference are the energizers who can make things happen as IQLM moves ahead. There is room for everyone to play a significant role in these activities. In closing this inaugural conference, I want to acknowledge the great people who helped make this conference possible.

Please note that despite what seem to be limited resources, we have plenty to make a difference if we stick together.

So collaborate, communicate, and by all means do not let the spirit of IQLM die. Help us to make it grow. Thank you and we will expect to see you at many upcoming IQLM events.
