El grupo Village People fue fundado en 1977 en Nueva York, mezcla de ingenio y exageración, convirtiéndose en un fenómeno mundial durante los años dorados de la música disco. Esta innovadora formación se hizo famosa con canciones que entraron en listas británicas y Americanas como: “Go West”, “Macho Man”, “In the Navy” o la popular “Y.M.C.A.” Por sus peculiares disfraces, sus pegadizas canciones y sugerentes letras llenas de doble sentido, Village People fue un grupo “diseñado a medida” como años más tarde sucedió con otros grupos de éxito.

Founded in 1977 in New York, Village People were a combination of ingenuity and exaggeration that gained international notoriety during the golden years of disco. The innovative formation reached celebrity status with songs that triumphed on both the British and North American charts; songs the likes of “Go West”, “Macho Man”, “In the Navy” or their biggest hit, “Y.M.C.A.” Noted for their unique costumes, catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics full of innuendo, Village People were a “madeto-measure” band, as was the case with other similar, subsequent successes.
