You need to obtain TWO Visas to join the SUHK program in Hong Kong:
• Hong Kong Study Visa – for Full Semester in Fall 2011
Due: May 1, 2011Please note that the Hong Kong Study Visas will NOT be issued to persons of the following nationalities: Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, North Korea (Democratic Peoples' Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam.
• Chinese Tourist Visa – for Module A travelling seminar

Hong Kong Option III Study Visa – Fall 2011 – Due May 1, 2011
• Students need to complete the Chinese Study Visa application and send to SU Abroad, no later than May 1st.
• SUHK will submit and obtain your Student Visa on behalf of the students who submit all required documents by May 1st.
• Persons who do not have the right of abode or right to land and wish to enter Hong Kong for the purpose of education are required by law to obtain a valid student visa/entry permit issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department before coming to Hong Kong.
• Students who have a valid student visa/entry permit issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department will be classified as "Non-local Students". If you travel to Hong Kong as a visitor without holding a valid student visa, you will not be allowed by law to enroll as a student.
• Please note that application for a HK Study Permit to enter the HKSAR for study will NOT be issued to persons of the following nationalities: of Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, North Korea (Democratic Peoples' Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam.

2. Clear photo copy of the info page of your passport – including your photo, passport number (see sample), please double check
your passport expiry date, for Fall 2011 students, passport SHOULD NOT expire before 19 June 2012. If so, please renew your
passport ASAP prior to proceed this Visa application.
3. Declaration by Financial Sponsor Form – click here
4. Evidence of student’s financial sponsorship: Copies of bank statements, scholarship or financial aid award letters, verifying at
least US$6,500 on deposit.
5. CityU Mainland and External Affairs Office (MEAO) “Request for Visa Sponsorship & Student Agreement” – click here ** HK
study visa is applied by City University of Hong Kong directly– All documents must received by May 1st **
6. $us 35 Visa Processing Fee – check or money order to “Syracuse University”
7. Copy of your health insurance card

Checklist of the Hong Kong Student Visa Application
1. Completed “Application for Entry for Study in Hong Kong” form (Page 1 to Page 4) with the bar code printed and sign by your HAND on the bottom of each page
2. Clear photo copy of the info page of your passport – including your photo, passport number (see sample). Make sure the expiry date should not be expired BEFORE 19 June 2012 and copy is clear enough to read

Application work flow –
For the American Passport Holders :1. All documents must be sent to Julie Riverso by May 1, 2011.
2. SUHK office will send all your HK Study Visa Application documents to CityU Mainland and External Affairs Office (MEAO) to proceed your application;
3. MEAO will process the student visa application only if all the required documents are received;
4. The Hong Kong Immigration Department may request for additional information / documents in support of the student visa application on a case by case basis; i.e. MEAO or SUHK may contact you if there is any question, please check your email regularly and reply ASAP; keep Julie Riverso & Karei Law informed at [email protected] & [email protected]
5. The HK Study Visa usually takes 6 weeks to process;
6. MEAO will send the visa label to the student’s provided postal address as on the Study Visa Application Form. DO check your mail box let SUHK know upon receive;
7. Simply affix the Hong Kong Study Visa Label onto a blank page of your passport; Validate your student visa by presenting that page to the officer at the immigration check point upon entry to Hong Kong. If you have your Chinese Tourist Visa, it is suggest to affix your study visa label on the adjacent page of your passport

For China / Taiwan or Other Passport Holders:1. All documents must be sent to Julie Riverso by May 1, 2011.
2. SUHK office will send all your HK Study Visa Application documents to CityU Mainland and External Affairs Office (MEAO) to proceed your application;
3. MEAO will process the student visa application only if all the required documents are received;
4. The Hong Kong Immigration Department may request for additional information / documents in support of the student visa application on a case by case basis; i.e. MEAO or SUHK may contact you if there is any question, please check your email regularly and reply ASAP; keep Julie Riverso & Karei Law informed at [email protected] & [email protected]
5. The HK Study Visa usually takes 8 weeks to process;
6. MEAO will send the visa label to the student’s provided postal address as on the Study Visa Application Form. DO check your mail box let SUHK know upon receive
7. You need to apply the following documents by yourself after receiving your Hong Kong Study Visa:
• “Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao” (EEP 往來港澳通行証 ) For Study, NOT general EEP for TRAVELS (usually takes 3 weeks to process)
• Relevant exit endorsement 逗留簽注 from the Public Security Bureau office 戶口所在地的公安機關出入境管理部門 (usually takes 3 weeks to process)
8. The Hong Kong Study Visa Label should be affixed onto a blank endorsement page of the EEP
9. Make sure you have collected the above mentioned documents in time by 5 Aug, 2011.

REMEMBER• Passport SHOULD NOT be expired before 19 June 2012
• Check to see if you are required to obtain a visa or entry permit before entering to Hong Kong – CLICK HERE http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm If not, SUHK will issue your Hong Kong Study Visa during orientation once you arrive in Hong Kong.
• Check to see if you have any restriction for tourist visas to enter China (Beijing), Singapore, or Malaysia for the China Seminar. We strongly advise you to apply for multiple entries (if possible)
• China Passport Holders – prepare all your EEP and endorsement relevant documents ASAP!• Validate your student visa by presenting passport with the page with Hong Kong Study
Visa label to the officer at the immigration checkpoint upon entry to Hong Kong;
• If you forgot to validate your student visa, you are NOT ALLOWED to have official registration at City University of Hong Kong.
