God Bless America! October 20, 2017 Did you know? One of the eight one room school houses in the Town of Sugar Camp, Hammel School was located where Sowinski Farms is today. Red Ribbon Week Student Council has been busy planning for Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. The students at Sugar Camp School will be observing Red Ribbon Week beginning on Monday, October 30. Please see the attached for permission slip, dress up days and activities sponsored by the Student Council. The Fair is Coming! The Fair is Coming! The Bookfair that is! Our annual Fall Bookfair will be held the week of November 13! Proceeds from the fair help restock classroom and library shelves! Please consider getting involved with this great event! We're looking for 1-2 volunteers to help with set up on Thursday November 9 (3-5pm) as well as workers the week of the fair. The fair is typically open in the morning when kids first arrive, during the lunch hour and at the end of the day. If you can assist with any of these times please call or text the Bookfair Chair - Michele Cornelius at: 715/499-0787. Happy Reading! But, did you know that there is another holiday coming up that is equally popular around the world? El Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is celebrated on November 2nd as a way to remember loved ones who have passed from this world. The library recommends that you read Funny Bones: Posada and His Day of the Dead Calaveras to learn more about the artwork of José Guadalupe "Lupe" Posada and its influence on this meaningful holiday. Maybe you can even try to make your own calaveras in time to celebrate! Release Day Our first early-release day will be on Friday, September 22. Please note for students in grades K-6 that on all early-release days, busses will depart Sugar Camp School at 12:45. Visitors All visitors are reminded to check in at the office after entering the front door of Sugar Camp School. For those who are picking up their children at the end of the day, please wait in the lobby area for your child. If you have a need to leave with your child right away, the office personnel will contact the classroom teacher and ask to have the child dismissed as soon as possible. Polish Square Fun Run/Walk Sign up now for the ninth annual Polish Square Fun Run/Walk! It will take place on October 21, starting at 10 a.m. This year the proceeds will benefit the Sugar Camp School Community organization (SCO) and Playground Fund. The SCO has always been the biggest supporter of our students and

Lunch Menu Monday – Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, fruit. Tuesday – Pizza, salad bar, fruit. Wednesday – Hot ham and cheese, baked potato, broccoli and cheese, fruit. Thursday – Mozzarella dippers or calzone, Caesar salad, fruit. Friday – In service – no school.
