The year 1958 marked the beginning of a transformation in the Indian steel industry, with the founding of Shah Brothers. Having a grass root experience of the industry, the founders, in their role as brokers & suppliers, identified the gap and virtual non-availability of Boiler Quality Plates in India.Foreseeing the future of one of the world’s largest populated democracies, Shah Brothers (as it was then called) pioneered the import of Boiler Quality (Pressure Vessel Quality) Plates into India in the year 1965.Being a first mover in the field, and given the absence of local production, SBIPL achieved a leadership position in imports and stock holding of Boiler Quality plates immediately. The company proudly retains this position five decades later.

MEETING HIGH EXPECTATIONS WITH HIGH ACHIEVEMENT

As the country was not producing requisite qualities of steel, and was neither self sufficient in quantity, SBIPL became the largest importer of Boiler Quality plates from mills in Romania, Russia & China. As the country progressed and local mills commenced offering world class products, SBIPL by default, became a preferred partner for all plate producers in India.Having a legacy of quality & quantity, backed by a customer base pan India, SBIPL became a preferred partner for Jindal Iron & Steel (JSPL), Essar Steel, Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), while maintaining opportunistic buying relations with international leaders such as Alchevsk Iron & Steel/Ukraine, Wuyang Iron & Steel/China, NLMK/Belgium and more.Large inventories of Pressure Vessel Steel Plates, High Strength Steel Plates, Alloy Steel Plates, Mild Steel Plates, HR Coils & Stainless Steel Plates.First and probably yet the only steel trading company to be accredited ISO 9001:2008 by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance in India.Stock-Yard facility spread over 30,000 sq.mtrs. with Goliaths, mobile and Overhead Cranes with Load Capacity of 35 MT.Only Steel Trading Company in India to have a private Custom Bonded Warehouse facility.

THE COMPANY

THE FOUNDERS & PIONEERS

Mr. Chinubhai Shah and Mr. Pravin Mehta, the founders of SBIPL, shared a common and clear vision. Having migrated to Mumbai in the early 1950’s, they started what has today become the largest distribution company of Boiler Quality Steel Plates in India. With a firm belief in themselves and their dreams, they quit their jobs, joined hands and ventured into this business together, at a time when most traders were unfamiliar with the existence of Boiler Quality Plates. It was their vision, hard work, perseverance and unmatched marketing skills that paved the way for the pioneering import of steel from Romania at a time when East European goods were considered taboo. With an ever increasing inventory covering a range of products and a range of thicknesses, their client base continued to grow. Along with this growth they established strong relationships that were based on trust and a commitment to fulfilling the needs of their clients at all times.

SBIPL provides the largest off take of B.Q. Plates month on month to JSPL, SAIL, & ESSAR STEEL. Off the shelf availability of thicknesses is 6mm up to 150mm, ensuring the capability to cater to any and every need. To fulfill “just in time” delivery of customers spread across the nation, stockyards and offices have been established in Ahmedabad / Bangalore / Chennai / Delhi / Hyderabad. Being the first and only steel trading company in India to operate a sanctioned private custom bonded warehouse, our customers enjoy the benefit of duty-free purchases in INR as well as USD, be it for local consumption or export.At SBIPL, we believe that the consumer should hold the lowest possible inventory, since it reduces inventory cost & saves on handling. Sanjiv Mehta is the CEO of the flagship company SBIPL. With over 35 years of experience, Mr. Sanjiv Mehta has built relationships with leading domestic and international producers of steel and all major consumers in India, who now treat SBIPL as partners not suppliers.A new generation leader, he plays a pivotal role in framing the vision of SBIPL and is responsible for transforming the company from a local niche player to an international trading organization in the steel industry today.

MR. AJAY MEHTA, MANAGING DIRECTOR, M/S. PEACEFORT

Ajay Mehta, Managing Director of M/s. Peacefort is a powerhouse of skill and talent. With over 30 years of experience as a chemical engineer, he manages Peacefort Chem-Ind. Engineering Pvt. Ltd., our value added division for Boiler Quality Plate Profiles.He has developed systems for meticulous inventory management, which provides lineage for cut plates and profiles in stock over years, thus providing unparalleled services and benefits to this industry.

MR. DHARMESH SHAH, DIRECTOR, MESHCO STEELS

Dharmesh Shah is Director of Meshco Steels, engaged in indenting and project supply. He has been instrumental to diversify into new and different product lines.He proves to be an asset to SBIPL team in lieu of hands on experience of running an engineering unit and more importantly being a out-of-the-box thinker. He has profound understanding of user needs and arrives at effective solutions for them.

MR. RAJESH SHAH, MANAGING DIRECTOR, SBIPL

Rajesh Shah, Managing Director of SBIPL has been responsible in converting the group vision into reality with supportive actions. He controls and oversees the financial and administrative affairs of the company.Being in this industry for over 33 years, he has established an extensive network of contacts with banks and other important financial institutions with whose help and support the company has grown from strength to strength.

Boiler Quality Plate Profiles

M/s. Peacefort Chem-Ind., our associates, are the largest Boiler Quality Plate Profile manufacturers in the country. In addition, they have access to our large inventory at all times. This ensures immediate availability of cut to size profiles to all customers who prefer to buy exactly as per their shape and needs.

Long Term Contracts

Volatility has become synonymous with steel over the past few years. For customers who require our products month-on-month, we are able to offer quarterly contracts at fixed price with off the shelf availability. This smoothens their consumption planning and provides fixed costing to their marketing team.

Quality Assurance

SBIPL was the first and still probably the only steel trading firm to be accredited ISO Certification by Lloyd Register Quality Assurance. Direct sourcing from manufacturers, in-house surface and ultrasonic inspection, supplementary testing by accredited laboratories under 3rd party, and meticulous records for traceability up to 5 years of supply are some of the practices to ensure quality. This ensures 100% reliability and peace of mind towards quality of all products handled and delivered by us.

Indenting Services

Having been historically the largest importer of our products in the country and having pioneered these products from more than 11 relationships enjoyed with mills is special. For customers with large requirements or with duty benefits, indenting service supported by financing options can be offered.

Logistic Solutions

With branch offices and godowns spread across the country and a track record of consistent procurement from every mill in the country, we have developed a network of certified logistic partners to ensure fastest and most competitive movement of raw material to any destination within the country.

Service Centre

The company has extended financial support to a standalone service centre in Taloja, which provides decoiling of Hot Rolled Coils for thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 25mm and width of 1 mtr. to 2.5 mtrs. Similarly Cold Rolled Coils of thicknesses ranging from 0.2mm to 1.2mm and width up to 1650 mtrs. can be decoiled and even slit and offered. The above ensures cost savings as cargo does not have to be shipped to destinations for the above services.

Customized Solutions

In lieu of month-on-month bulk ordering with mills, we are able to accept orders for tailor made size & specifications even if minimum order quantity of mill is not fulfilled by the enquiry.

Over the years, the industry has gradually realized the advantages in procuring plates cut to size as against procurement of full plates. This gradual shift of the industry towards profiles has resulted in a consistent and healthy growth of the company, thereby establishing Peacefort as the market leader and the only company in the country offering Boiler Quality plates cut to size, operating at such large levels.Combining professionalism with effectiveness, graphic and schematic records of each and every plate and off cut held in the inventory are maintained. Indoferro, Indonesia, for supply of Nickel Pig Iron to OEM's in the Indian Sub-continent.All Steels DMCC is a 100% Wholly Owned Subsidiary of M/s. Having pioneered the business of Boiler Quality profiles, the company holds an independent inventory of more than 2000 MT. Over the years, the industry has gradually realized the advantages in procuring plates cut to size as against procurement of full plates. This gradual shift of the industry towards profiles has resulted in a consistent and healthy growth of the company, thereby establishing Peacefort as the market leader and the only company in the country offering Boiler Quality plates cut to size, operating at such large levels.

Combining professionalism with effectiveness, graphic and schematic records of each and every plate and off cut held in the inventory, are maintained. Peacefort has an industrial shed and warehouse spread over 30,000 sq.ft. equipped with skilled supervisory staff and EOT cranes to facilitate easy and smooth material handling.
