That, on the recommendation of the General Manager of Planning and Development, the following candidates BE APPROVED for the positions listed below on the Urban Design Peer Review Panel:

BACKGROUND

On March 6, 2008, Planning Committee approved the Terms of Reference for the Urban Design Peer Review Panel (UDPRP). The Terms of Reference outlined the make up of the Panel with the following positions: 3 Architects, 1 Landscape Architect, 1 Urban Design Planner and 1 LEEDs Accredited Professional. As part of those Terms of Reference, the UDPRP was to replace half of the Panel's membership after one year of operation. This approach was chosen in order to turn-over the Panel every year, while allowing for continuity, as at any one time half of the Panel will have served one year or more. The remaining candidates include: Bill Ruth (Architect), Jim Sheffield (LEED Accredited Professional) and Jim Yanchula (Urban Designerplanner). The applications submitted by the candidates are attached to this report and provide a more detailed overview of each individual.

Overall, the candidates denoted in this report provide a full complement of knowledge and expertise in various disciplines. The overall collective experience of the candidates will assist the City in reviewing proposals through the development approvals process and in promoting quality urban design within the larger community.
