c. Apple does not intend to exfiltrate after a two- ,months stay inKMWAahoo but will remain within their area of operation as long as con-ditions permit.
4. Briefing
a. The team briefing was similar to other BGFiend briefings, allavailable information concerning their area was given. Special attentionwas given to border crossing with emphasis on disposition of security .forces, mined areas and permanent fortifications. Safe houses and friendlycontacts were made known, although in many cases these were already knownto the team members from the days when Yarborough reigned supreme inKMWaahoo. They were informed of Little Pine and Team Red One operatingin the (5) areas with the coming of springtime. The general areas ofthese teams possible operations were given as well as their affiliationswith HTNeigh. It is believed that no conflicts will arise between Appleand Little Pine and Red One. The team code name "Apple" was given themfor use as a password only in the event of recrossing into LCFlake. Anyrunners being sent out by the team will use the code word "Apple Special"for identification. Identity cards were issued using pseudonym with noentry made for military service or family status.
b. Instruction was given in secret ink. The recognition word tobe used in these letters will be (6), the letter to be signed (7). AnLCFlake cutout address was furnished. Arrangements for servicing thismail will be laid on only in the event that no radio contact is made by20 May.
c. Prearranged schedule for drops and DZ's; on the seventh andeighth night after the frontier crossing is effected a resupply dropconsisting of one food Container will be made at HTRegale K-2140 Whichis shown on Overlay #1 as Point B. Estimated date of this drop is 7 or8 May. This point is shown on Overlay #2 as the small red enclosedtriangle marked "X".
d. On 20 and 21 May a prearranged resupply drop consisting offood and one W/T SR1 radio set will be dropped to primary DZ HTRegale1/1543; first alternate H-1544, second alternate I-1629, which areshown on Overlay #2 within the red bounded area as primary DZ 1; A-1first alternate, DZ A-2, second alternate. If radio contact is success-fully maintained, these DZ areas will either be confirmed or changedprior to the dropping, depending upon conditions with which the team maybe faced.
e. In the event that no radio contact is made, a resupply schedulewas set up for 8,9 and 10 June to be carried out on the same DZ's asscheduled for 20 and 21 May. Even if radio contact is successful, thesesame DZ I s may possibly be used for the 8, 9 and 10 June resupply mission.

4. Training
a, One month's training and conditioning was carried out in LCFlalie. This consisted of survival problems, night compass problems, firing ofweapons, daily marches overland in mountainous area carrying field equip-ment, map reading and familiarization with HTRegale coordinate system,First Aid and field hygiene, use of concentrated rations, setting up andoperating radio set in the field and maintaining contact with base inconjunction with simulated intelligence and observation reporting pro— .blems, and a general review of the type of intelligence we are particu-larly interested in having them report to us. A list of equipmentissued is enclosed as an attachment.
5. Remarks A
a. Apple is by far the best team we have ever dispatched. Its membersare way above the calibre of the Waahoos we have had to deal with in thepast and every effort should be made to recruit more of this type fromthe same source if possible. They were a pleasure to work with and gaveno trouble whatsoever, which is a far cry from the teams we have dealtwith in the past. Absolute security was mAintained and none of the teammembers ever left the staging area except for fjAld:problems when theywere accompanied by members of BGFiend staff. (pCatnaP)was a headachefrom the start and constantly interferred with our raining program andcommunication exercises, although he took no part in them himself. Inthe end the team members and BGFiend staff were forced to completelyignore him in the interest of getting the show on the road. In thefuture it is recommended that he confine his activities to Yarborough'scourt in BGBrawl where it is felt they will be more appreciated anduseful.
b. We Should be most interested to learn whether there is anypossibility of recruiting further ZRSpells from the sane source as the A/—Apple Team members which are the type we have been endeavoring to recruitever since BCFiend began operations.
c. As requested by Metal, a full accounting of all expenses in— •volved in LCFlake is attached. However, this does not include itemsof operational equipment as listed in Para 1 on Attachment #5. It isbelieved that the Supply Section in ZRMetal will be able to furnish youwith the cost of these items.
