Welcome to New Batch

In his inaugural address, Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore, congratulated the students on joining IIM Indore. He emphasized on the importance of fruitful contributioncontribution to the society and advised the students to think and work in that direction.

IIM Indore Mumbai Campus welcomed new batch of Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at Mumbai on August 10, 2014 .

OnOn the occasion, Chief Guest Dr. Ajit Ranade, Chief Economist Aditya Birla Group, motivated the newly admitted students, through his inspiring address, to achieve academic and professionalprofessional excellence. Dr. Ranade explained how there is a positive sentiment about the Indian economy.

Professor Shubhabrata Basu, Chair, PGP Mumbai gave a detailed overview of the programme and introduced the course structure to the students.

Seven students from IIM Indore PGP Mumbai 2013 batch went on Student Outbound Exchange Program to renowned universities such as Northeastern University Boston, Baruch College New York, EGADE Business School Mexico and Asian Institute of Management Philippines, to pursue their three month course. PGP Mumbai community wish all the very success to the exchange participants.

Jayvirsinh, Aniruddh, Harsha and Shubhankar of PGP-1 batch were the finalists of “Wizards of Barter” – A marketing strategy event at Insight 2014 organized by IIM Ahmedabad. Sanchit Malik and Pankaj Thakur of PGP-1 batch were runners-up in the Colgate case study challenge organized by The Hindu BusinessLine. Arjun Yadav, G Akshay Reddy and B Venkata Karthik of PGP-2 were the finalists in the Microsoft #Cloud competition at Vista’14- yearly business summit of IIM Bangalore.

Guest Talks

Mr. Bijaei Jayaraj, CEO of Loylty Rewardz visited the campus on 8th August and spoke about his journey from an employee to an entrepreneur in banking and financial services industry. Mr. Jayaraj also spoke about his business model and how he created value for all the stakeholders in the ecosystem.

Mr. Neil Sanghavi, MD, Oxygen Entertainment visited the campus on 30th July and made the participants aware about the opportunities and challenges prevalent in the entertainment industry. Mr. Sanghavi explained in detail about Below The Line (BTL), Above The Line (ATL) and through the line marketing concepts and the importance of each in integrated marketing communication.

Mr. Sankalp Kohli, Author of Best Selling books such as 'Because...Every Raindrop is a HOPE' interacted with PGP-Mumbai participants on 27th August and spoke about story-telling as a tool to influence people. The students were involved in lot of activities like launch of a product by enacting a play. He also gave examples of Google Ads and Steve Jobs to convey the importance of storytelling.

Mr. Gunajit Brahma, Director of Jeev Anksh Eco Products Pvt. Ltd. visited the campus on 26th July and explained his own experience of starting a new e-commerce business. Students were introduced to business models of top e-commerce players, and how today’s fiscal and legal frameworks are aiding monetization of innovative ideas like never before.

Mr. Kavindra Mishra, CEO of Pepe Jeans India, visited IIM Indore, Mumbai Campus to interact with PGP Mumbai students on 29th September. He spoke about the current scenario of fashion retail and also about the tremendous scope of retail in the future. He also shared his entrepreneurial experience with Zovi.com.

Mark the Cause In association with Teach For India, an Online Poster-Making Competition was conducted by Marketricks. The theme was “India a Superpower, what is holding us back? i.e. any Social Issue pertaining to India.”The winners areThe winners are1st Prize: Team Praarambh, IFMR2ndPrize: Team Eclipse, XIMB

B-PlanAaAarambh, E-cell of IIM Indore Mumbai campus, had organized B-plan event for PGP-II students to encourage entrepreneurship and to give a platform for students to put forward their big B-ideas. Students were asked to come up with a B-plan to start of food joint in CBD Belapur locality. Participants awed judges with their creative b-plans and niche focus with clear segmentation, targeting and positioningpositioning ideas. Winners of the event were P Mathan Anto Marshine, Atul Katiyar, and Ritvik.

The Virtual Trading ChallengeIn association with moneypot.in, a 2 month long challenge, open to all b-schools in India, is being conducted by Investurn. It gives the participant a chance to understand the Indian equity market along with an opportunity to win certificates by getting the highest return on their virtual investment

MahaYojnaHad you been in Kauravs’ place and considering ceteris paribus, what would have been your strategy to defeat the Pandavas? As exciting as it sounds, iConsult had organized an inter college strategy competition, Mahayojna. Socio ManagersOn the 68th Independence Day of India, Ummid Club organised “Socio Managers”, an article writing competition to capture the perspective of young budding managers on social issues. Topics for the competition were: 1) Are Indian women really independent in today's world? 2) The CSR related amendment in the Companies Act 2013 is a boon or bane? 3) Do 3) Do you feel MBA students can become better social entrepreneurs? The winners of the competition are 1st - Kanishk Pratap Singh (PGP 1) 2nd - Shikha Suresh (PGP 1) 3rd -Pragyaa Bang (PGP 2)

D’CipherQuriosity Quiz Club organized intra college quiz competition for PGP-1 students on 17th September. 11 teams competed for the quiz event which involved visual logic puzzles, The winners are

VVarun Bhargava Jitesh Jain Ankur Bhagat.

MarkWritIn association with Phyzok Learning Solutions LLP, an article writing competition was organized on the theme that covered from analysis of the marketing strategy of a company to a new marketing concept, trend etc. Phyzok Learning Solutions was the prize sponsor for the event.AroundAround 81 articles were submitted by students from top-notch institutes across the country. The top 3 articles were featured in the newsletter of Marketricks, MarQuer. The top 2 authors were awarded cash prize. The winners are1st Prize: Smridhi Aggarwal, DSM, DTU2nd Prize: Suyog Agrawal, IMT Ghaziabad

iLogicateaa Logic event, tailor-made event for the budding consultants from PGP 1. It tested the problem solving ability of the participants with complicated puzzles in a limited time. The winners of the event are Shirude Amit Satishchandra Soumini Basu KKabir Rai Saurav Dash Sumeet Singhal

Student Activities

AdventMarMarketricks had organized a competition on advertisements. The event caught the attention and creativity of PGP-II participants. It tested the Ad-recall of future marketeers and also their out-of-box thinking by asking them to come up with a communication campaign for bizarre, imaginary products like Maggi rasagulla, Ponds Shoe polish, Cadbury juice etc.

Interview with Autowale.inAaAarambh core members interacted and interviewed CEO of autowale.in, Mr Mukesh Jha. Autowale is Pune based 3 years old start-up which provides convenient, safe and reliable auto services to their consumers. This interview gave valuable insights to the budding entrepreneurs on his journey from a small idea to a business.

Consulting Induction ProgramConsultingConsulting firm ZENeSYS visited campus on 9th September and conducted a consulting induction program. ZENeSYS, using their proprietary fitment test, judged the type of role a student can fit into consulting. This workshop busted myths of participants by giving an industry insight into consulting, the roles offered by various consulting firms and skills required to get into those roles.

Save the Tiger CampaignIIMIIM Indore Mumbai campus joined hands with NDTV-Aircel in supporting ‘Save the Tiger’ Campaign Signature Drive. On World Tiger’s Day - 29th July 2014, PGP Mumbai participants submitted 80 signature sheets, each with 30 signatures, to NDTV. In a live telecast on NDTV, Participants urged the citizens of this country to be a part of this initiative; to help in increasing the awareness to preserve the natural habitat ofof tigers; and to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards poaching.

Independence Day68th Independence Day was celebrated by the students of PGP-Mumbai on 15th August 2014. The students were very enthusiastic and celebrated the Independence Day with great joy.

Garbha NightCulcomCulcom IIM Indore, Mumbai Campus organized ‘Garbha Night’ during Dussehra which was fervently celebrated by the participants as they turned out in their ethnic wear. Participants enjoyed Dandiya after performing Durga puja.

Dahi HandiPGPPGP-I & PGP-II students of IIM Indore Mumbai campus followed the enthusiastic age-old tradition of forming a human pyramid and breaking the Dahi Handi after performing puja on the day of Janmashtami.
