Consequent upon implementation of the ~ecommendations of the '6th CentralPay Commission to permit Railway servants to encashment of LAP upto 10 days atthe time of availing Passesonce in two years, instructions were issued accordingly,vide this office letter 'of even number dated 29.10.2008, incorporating the rule inIndian Railways Establishment CodeVol.I as Rule 540-A.

2 The Department of Personnel& Training (DOP&T), after examining referencesreceived from various MinistriesjDepartments regarding applicability of encashmentof earned leave by re-employed pensioners, have clarified that re-employedpensioners will be entitled to encashment of earned leave along with LTCduring the 'period of re-employment upto the limit of 60 days (including the no. of days forwhich encashment has been allowed along with .LTCwhile in service) provided he isentitled to LTC.

3. The matter has been considered by the Board and it is clarified that re­employed Railway pensioners will be entitled to encashment of LAP while availingPass/PTOduring the'period of, re'"employment upto the overall limit of 60' days inaccordance with Rule 540-A of IREC-Vol.I (including the number of daysJor whichencashment has been allowed at the time of availing Pass/PTO while in service)provided, he is entitled to PassjPTO.
