Purpose

Storage unit (SU) management in arehouse Management (M) ena!"es you to o#timi$e %arehouse ca#acityan& contro" materia" '"o% !y uti"i$ing storage units %ithin the %arehouse.

A storage unit is a "ogica" grou#ing o' one or severa" amounts o' materia" such as a #a""et or a container that can!e manage& %ithin a %arehouse as a unit that !e"ongs together. Storage units can !e either homogeneous(containing one materia" item on"y) or mie& (containing t%o or more materia" items).

A"" storage units %hether the materia"s are store& on stan&ar& #a""ets %ire !askets or other containers areassigne& an i&enti'ier * a num!er * %hich is maintaine& in the system as the storage unit num!er. +here'ore it is#ossi!"e at any given time to kno% %here each storage unit is "ocate& in the %arehouse com#"e the amount o'materia" containe& in it an& %hich o#erations have !een #rocesse& or #"anne& 'or it.

hen SU management is not active in a storage ty#e a"" stock is manage& as se#arate ,uants at the storage !in"eve". ith SU management stock is manage& at the #a""et or storage unit "eve". A storage !in can have one ormore storage units. Simi"ar"y each storage unit can consist o' one or more ,uants.
