What do you understand by Time pressure?
• psychological stress resulting from having to get things done in less time than is required

• Hurrying up after finishing a block
• Answering questions before a question is completed

What to do in therapy session
• talking slowly and deliberately,
• Read…pause momentarily (very briefly) between words and between phrases

• Record instances of how you react to TP
• Create such situations for yourself
• Note words and situations
• Telephone operators, postal clerks, bus drivers etc create time pressure
Pausing And Phrasing :use of silence
• Stutterer never pause for silence except for feared words.
• Lapsing into silence is a natural defensive biological reaction
What to do in therapy session
• Read…pause momentarily (very briefly) between words and between phrases
• Prepare a speech on any topic , use commas and full stops to indicate pause or silence for a while
• Light contact method
• Easy onset technique

• Prepare five consecutive sentences in which you use commas, periods , grammatical pauses
• Short phrases
• Long pauses
