As Coffee arrives by truck to the factory it is checked with a poker to
see what kind of coffee it is, then the truck is weighed and the lot is
calculated, against the weight of the truck and gunny bags.
The coffee is identified by eye by an expert and various parameters
such as moisture content, graded or ungraded and any other
information are documented.

For the gunny bags and trans ortation by truckthe charges are `
3,000/- whichis paid by the agent.
Processing procedure for Cherry:
The coffee ishulled, and usually doesntneed to be dried by means of
a dryer, only during the rainy season a drier isused when the coffees
moisture contentis above 14%. The coffee isheated with a furnace-
powered drier,to getthe required moisture %.
A huller polishesthe coffee bean and removesthe skin ofthe coffee
bean.
A machine named catadoor isused to separate the triages.

Then a grader sortsthe coffee beans based on itssize.
Then the coffee bean goesthrough a color sorter, machinessortthe beans based
on color, blacks, browns and greens are separated.

After the color sorting itgoes again for grading, and then into a silo- a
huge tankwith a capacity of 16 tons.
A bulker isused to mixtwo differentcoffee grades according to
therequirement.
Coffee isthen packed in 60 kg bags;the coffee can also be transferred
to a container using a blower,which blows coffee into huge bags
inside a container.
In Parchmentthe extraneous matter is removed like twigs,

will damage the huller.

A huller polishesthe coffee beans.
After the coffee beans are polished the triages are separated.
Then a gravity separator sortsthe coffee beans based on weight.
The coffee beans are stored in a concrete silo and then the coffee
beans are packed in 60kg gunny bags.
There is also a machine to load the coffee beans directly into a
container.

Such as Mysore nuggets extra bold or MNEB which are above 7.5mm
in size.
7.10mm above is AA grade.y 6.65mm above is A grade. 6mm above is grade B. 5.50mm above is grade C. 5mm above and round in shape is PB grade.
Elephantbeans.
Plantation C consists of all sizes.
Some importantpoints:
Coffee beans fade due to inappropriate storage environment.
In monsoonthe coffee beans are discolored.

Buyers abroad are interested in buying Blackstoo.
Coffee is exported in 60kg bags.
Coffee arrivesin 75 kg bags.
Raw coffee arrivesin 50 kg bags.
Then there is an Alpha bag,whichis 1 MT in weight.
Coffee is also exported in bulkin 21 MT containers.
I was able to see coffee beans,whichhave a good body, medium
acidity, and 0 defects.
Sometimes coffee beans, are attacked by an insect,thishappens due
to improper storage and once the coffee beans are fumigated with a
chemical namelyammonium phosphate,the coffee beans are then
suitable for consumption.
The localswhen purchasing coffee beans go by the color ofthe coffee
rather than the cup.
When people abroad buy coffee beans,they go by the appearance,
even a single defectbean counts.
The coffee thatcomes from Girihillsis called blue mountain coffee.
ACEP is Arabica Cherry Estate powder.
ACEP is preferred compared to Arabica Cherry while purchasing asitoccupies lessstorage place asitis processed and graded atthe estate.
150 kgs of AC is equivalentto 100 kgs of ACEP.
Coffee beansideally should have a good body meaning good width
and density.
