102020 Spring Guide | firstfields.org/midweek09 First Baptist Church at The Fields

Jesus was a master storyteller, and the parables He told were ingeniously simple word pictures with profound spiritual lessons. Understanding the parables is a crucial matter for followers of Jesus. Jesus told parables so His people might comprehend His message about the kingdom of God clearly. Pastor-teacher John MacArthur helps readers understand Jesus’ parables and how they relate to the whole of His message. In Parables he helps Christians understand the essential lessons contained in the most famous and influential short stories the world has ever known.

Child-care is provided by reservation only. Register for the class and child-care online at firstfields.org/midweek.

Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers’ true identity in Christ, and ultimately helps you discover what it means to experience the Living Hope you have in Christ. Key themes of humility, submission, and identity in Christ guide the study of 1 Peter as participants are challenged to read the book in its entirety each week.

Register for the class and child-care online at firstfields.org/midweek.

Loss of a Spouse is a 2-hour seminar for people grieving a spouse’s death. It will be held January 12 in Room 318. The cost is $10.

The seminar features a video with practical, encouraging advice from counselors, pastors, and widowed men and women, followed by a small-group sharing time. You’ll learn what to expect in the days ahead, how to handle the loneliness, what to do with your spouse’s belongings, and how to find the strength to go on. Everyone who attends receives a booklet with over 30 short readings on how to live with grief and eventually rebuild your life. For more information, call the Adult Ministry at 972-512-3840 or email [email protected].

We all need a plan for our money. Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions, and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. FPU classes meet for an hour and a half each week for nine weeks.

Register for this class at firstfields.org/midweek. The first meeting is free.
