Study options in Indonesia

Semester Abroad ✜ Agriculture Semester Program (taught in English)

This program allows students to complete studies in agribusiness, food science, animal husbandry and forestry at Bogor Agricultural University, Bogor. Students may also undertake a placement at an Indonesian host organisation.

✜ Development Studies Immersion (taught in English) A semester-long program combining language study, a seminar series by and a two-month ‘front-line’ community development program, or an eight-week development placement with a local community-based organisation, hosted by Gajah Mada University.

✜ East Java Field Study (taught in Indonesian). Students can undertake field study on a subject of their choice at Muhammadiyah University in Malang, East Java.

✜ Flexible Language Immersion Students can spend one or two semesters at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, studying intensive language subjects (beginner, intermediate or advanced levels) together with regular curriculum subjects.

✜ Indonesian Business, Law and Society (taught in English) Studies are offered at the Indonesian Islamic University in Yogyakarta. Students can specialise in Islamic Business, Law, or Society and have the option to undertake an internship.

✜ International Relations (taught in English) Students have the opportunity to gain an Asian perspective on the world and its affairs at one of the foremost International Relations departments in Indonesia at Parahyangan University in Bandung, West Java.

✜ Indonesian Language Teacher Immersion Semester-long language, culture and teaching methodology training at Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta for pre-service and in-service teachers.

✜ West Java Field Study (taught in English or Indonesian). Students can undertake field study on a subject of their choice at Parahyangan University in Bandung, West Java.

Summer Abroad ✜ Agriculture Professional Practicum (taught in English)

Students complete a two-week academic program of intensive language training, followed by a four-week supervised practicum placement with a local or international agricultural, agribusiness, or resource management organisation.

✜ Business Professional Practicum (taught in English) Students complete a two-week academic program of intensive language training, followed by a four-week internship with a local or international business organisation in Jakarta.

✜ Creative Arts and Design Professional Practicum (taught in English) Students complete a two-week academic program of intensive language training, followed by a four-week internship with organisations in Indonesia’s creative economy in Jakarta.

✜ Development Studies Professional Practicum (taught in English) Students undertake two-weeks intensive language training followed by a four-week supervised internship placement with a local or international development organisation in Jakarta.

✜ Journalism Professional Practicum (taught in English) Students complete a two-week academic program of intensive language training, followed by a four-week work placement at a media organisation in Jakarta.

✜ Law Professional Practicum (taught in English) Students complete a two-week academic program of intensive language training, followed by a four-week work placement in the field of law in Jakarta.

✜ Sustainable Tourism Professional Practicum (taught in English) Students complete a two-week academic program of intensive language training, followed by a four-week work placement within a local or international tourism and hospitality company or organisation in Bali.

Intensives & Tours ✜ Indonesian Language Short Course Students

complete one or two three-week modules of intensive Indonesian language and culture (beginner, intermediate or advanced levels).

✜ Public Health Study Tour (taught in English) Students complete a two-week tour visiting universities and field sites across several locations in Indonesia, learning about the public health challenges currently facing Indonesia.

✜ Indonesia from the Ground Up! Designed to provide Australian educators with a comprehensive educational experience of Indonesia. Participants travel through Java and Bali, undertaking a range of activities including lectures, field trips and local community engagement.

✜ School Tours Designed tour packages to Yogyakarta for groups of Australian school students. Tour components include language classes, field trips and school visits; all catered to individual school requirements.
