Women Texas Film Festival (WTxFF) is the only

full-fledged, female-focused film festival in Texas.

WTxFF is strictly curated to show the range and scope

of the female filmmaker voice.

In a time when women have raised their voices to

empower each other and demand change, WTxFF

supports the movement by amplifying female voices

and perpetuating the successes of their peers.

We embrace diversity and storytelling risk takers. This

has paid off for the filmmakers, the festival, and the

audience – many of our festival alumni have gone on

to Sundance, Slamdance, and worked with major

cable and TV shows.

Women Texas Film Festival celebrates women who lead in

filmmaking by showcasing the range of female voices

throughout the medium.

We give female storytellers a stage to project their voices

and build a community that is safe, empowering, and

impactful.

Through film screenings, panels, and social events, we

encourage filmmakers to build partnerships and push

forward as decision makers in the stories we tell.

Women Texas Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

WHY FILM FESTIVALS MATTER

Film festivals are one of the primary ways filmmakers meet, network,

and brainstorm about future projects. Also, film festivals get

independent films in front of press and potential distributors.

If enough buzz is generated, a film may get purchased for wide-spread

distribution, or an up-and-coming filmmaker may come to the attention

of an established director or producer who may reach out for future

collaborations.

WHY FEMALE FILM FESTIVALS MATTER

Aside from a lack of economic opportunities afforded to women, we

have seen a toxic culture of sexual harassment and assault go unchecked

for decades, which is finally only beginning to unravel.

Studies consistently show that having strong female characters in film

and television causes women to be more motivated, ambitious, and

successful.

WTxFF seeks to position itself at the forefront of this profound and

much-needed paradigm shift.

GHOST STORY

As a producer and actress, I know the struggle women go through to produce, direct, and get hired for jobs both behind and in front of the camera. The Women Texas Film Festival will be a much needed showcase for work by female film artists for all that attend the screenings, panels and events.”

“I absolutely love this festival! When I first attended WTxFF, the amount of support I received was nothing but great and hospitable. They are truly a remarkable team!”

Lizette Barrera, FilmmakerMOSCA

I fell in love with Women Texas Film Festival! Not just because QUALITY PROBLEMS was honored with "Best Feature" there but mostly because they have created such a wonderful atmosphere of honor and inclusion. I met so many brilliant filmmakers & staff there and watched so many inspiring and amazing films. They are doing what we clamor about - promoting women filmmakers. And damn, they do it so well."

“Justina Walford has an eye for the edgier side of female- driven films as well as having the insight that comes from being a filmmaker of those films herself. I’m surprised that Texas hasn’t had a female-focused film festival of this scope before, but I am excited and overjoyed that she would lead the charge to create one.”
