insufficient making the syllabus ‘difficult’ and ‘very difficult’. 75% of the students rated the

conceptual difficulty of the course as moderate ( 70-100% of the syllabus was found within

the grasp of students). 75% of the students also agreed that 70-100% of the syllabus was

covered in class. Their opinion about the availability of library materials for the course was

positive as 84% of them felt it was ‘excellent ‘ or ‘adequate’. 87% of them also felt that the

prescribed readings were accessible ‘easily’ or ‘with some difficulty’. 48% of the students

felt that internal assessment had the impact of improving their course grade while 16% felt

that it had a negative impact. 57% students noted that their assignments were made

available to them for future use. 86% students noted that they were provided with a

syllabus outline at the beginning and 89% of them also noted that it was useful. 93%

students observed that the outline/ structure was followed while 63% acknowledged that

syllabus. 52% students , however, remarked that visits to industries, laboratories and

related fields did not occur frequently. The time constraint imposed by the University
