STUDENTS’ FEEDBACK REPORT
PG Students
A survey of PG students’ response to syllabus revealed that 64% of the students felt that the
syllabus was more than adequate or just adequate. 58% of them felt that the conceptual
difficulty of the course was just adequate to handle. 64% of the students opined that the
library materials for the course was adequate. The internal exam system met with a highly
positive response as 64% of the students felt that it had an adequate effect on the course
grade. 67% felt that the prescribed readings of the syllabus was accessible adequately. 87%
students remarked that their assignments had been evaluated and returned to them for
future reference. 87% agreed that a syllabus outline was provided at the beginning of the
course and they also felt that the structure was followed. A vast majority of the students
(87%) felt that this syllabus outline was helpful and that outsider experts were invited to
address them to supplement conceptual knowledge. 87% also felt that they were provided
opportunity to visit industries, laboratories, banks, fields and outside universities

A survey of the U.G students’ response to their syllabus revealed their overall assessment of
the syllabus to be adequate . 77% of the students found it ‘ just adequate’, ‘more than
adequate’ or ‘adequate’. While 76% of the students felt that their backgrounds were
supportive in rendering the syllabus ‘manageable’ or ‘easy’, 24% stated their backgrounds as
insufficient making the syllabus ‘difficult’ and ‘very difficult’. 75% of the students rated the
conceptual difficulty of the course as moderate ( 70-100% of the syllabus was found within
the grasp of students). 75% of the students also agreed that 70-100% of the syllabus was
covered in class. Their opinion about the availability of library materials for the course was
positive as 84% of them felt it was ‘excellent ‘ or ‘adequate’. 87% of them also felt that the
prescribed readings were accessible ‘easily’ or ‘with some difficulty’. 48% of the students
felt that internal assessment had the impact of improving their course grade while 16% felt
that it had a negative impact. 57% students noted that their assignments were made
available to them for future use. 86% students noted that they were provided with a
syllabus outline at the beginning and 89% of them also noted that it was useful. 93%
students observed that the outline/ structure was followed while 63% acknowledged that
outsider experts were invited frequently or occasionally to scaffold the learning of the
syllabus. 52% students , however, remarked that visits to industries, laboratories and
related fields did not occur frequently. The time constraint imposed by the University
Academic Calendar was one of the deterrents of such visits.
