Ballard County Elementarystudents honored veterans dur-ing their Veteran’s program onMonday. The BCES FlightChoir (grades 3-5) sang songsincluding “Americans We”,“My Flag”, and the “NationalAnthem”. SPC AaronWalker, son of Mrs. CrystalWalker, BCES teacher, andSPC Kristy Cogan, spoke onbehalf of veterans. BothAaron and Crystal are in theArmy and are stationed in Ben-ton. Each one spoke of theirinvolvement with the Armyand encouraged all the studentsto thank a veteran.

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Each week at Ballard County Middle School, three students (one from each grade) willbe selected and named Students of the Week. Students are nominated by teachers for out-standing behavior or performance. Shown from left are BCMS Students of the Week forNov. 12 are sixth-grader Erick Marinelli, seventh-grader Cassidy Thompson and eighth-grader Jayde Newton. Selectors said Marinelli is always focused on learning, with no timefor “goofing off”; Thompson is a fine example of a young lady, super-sweet and a pleasureto have in class; and Newton is extremely helpful and polite to everyone around her, and agood example to her peers. Last Wednesday was STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) competition at MSU.We had three groups compete to qualify for state competition in March. I am happy to say thatall three groups qualified for state.

State is March 28 at Rupp Arena. Regionals was last Wednesday at MSU. Elementary didnot qualify for state.
