Notice that the index has a small picture with the Student’s Name, Hometown, Major, Lessons Learned, Toughest First Year Class, Advice to New Students, Free Time…

All semester we have read student profiles of other students. Now you will create your own profile. Reflect on yourself as a student. Did you have a struggle or particular situation that could have been a chapter within a study skills textbook?

Decide what your student story is and write the article modeling it in the same style and length as the FOCUS profiles. You should write your story in 3rd person, writing about yourself as an outsider observing yourself. Tell your story!

These profiles will be submitted only to me and not read by classmates. Your Class Index will be public to your classmates.

Student Profile

This is where you will insert the text for your student profile. If you

look at the example in the textbook, all of these begin with larger font here, followed by columns, much like a newspaper, that detail the student’s story and their theme-based struggle. Decide what your story is as it relates to your being a college student. Do you struggle with time management? Perhaps you struggle with a “theme” that was not a chapter in our textbook. Notice how the student profiles matched the key concepts of that chapter. For example,

Those slides were only examples. I want you to be creative while producing a quality, honest reflection of what your FOCUS is in college. Write your story in third person so it sounds like the textbook profiles. Also, be sure and include graphics that reflect what you’re writing about, again like the profiles did.

On Blackboard there is a PowerPoint somewhat formatted as a template for this assignment. You are not required to use this but it is available to you if you find it helpful. The main thing is you draft a quality profile and make an attempt to make it look as professional as possible.
