    the European Union and Latin America.

    Participant countries are the Member States of the European Union and

    the following 18 countries of Latin America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil,

    Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,

    Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay andVenezuela.

    Alan is a high level scholarship programme specificallyaddressed to Latin America. It is expected that around 3900 Latin

    American students and professionals will benefit from these

    scholarships, in the European Union, until 2010.

    Alan will enable Latin American students and professionals,future academics and decision-makers, to benefit from high level

    education in the European Union.

    The periods of education and training may range from 6 months to

    3 years depending on the type of project and the level envisaged.
