Ron Brown Scholar Program The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make sig-

nificant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership poten-

tial, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US

citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Current college students are not eligible to apply.

November 1st - application will be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program AND forwarded to a se-

lect and limited number of additional scholarship providers.

DeWayne Wickham Founder's High School Scholarship DeWayne Wickham, a NABJ founder and former president (1987 – 1989), began his journalism career in

1973, during the Watergate scandal that forced the resignation of President Nixon. In nearly four decades as a

journalist, Mr. Wickham has worked for US News & World Report, The Baltimore Sun, WBAL-TV, CBS

News, BET, and USA Today, where he has written a syndicated column since 1985. He is currently the Dis-

tinguished Professor of Journalism and Chair of Communication Studies at Morgan State University in Balti-

more, MD.

Vanguard Minority Scholarship Program

The Vanguard Minority Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to students

entering their junior or senior year of college during the 2013 school year. The program's goal is to remove

financial barriers for minority students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential. Stu-

dents must be pursuing studies in business, finance, economics, or accounting. Scholarship funds can be used

for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Since introducing this program in 2004, Vanguard has awarded approximately $450,000 to deserving college

students.

National Scholarship Program Since inception, the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) has provided more than $8

million in scholarship funds to deserving students preparing to enter various business professions. For fiscal

year 2009 alone, NABA awarded close to $500,000 and the amount continues to grow annually. Through the

generous contributions of individuals, groups, and organizations that share NABA’s desire to break through

the economic barriers minorities often experience, NABA has offered between 40—70 national scholarships

annually ranging from $1,000—$5,000.

National Achievement Scholarship Program The National Achievement

Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to pro-

vide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. Black students may enter both the Na-

tional Achievement Program and the National Merit® Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit

Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) and meeting other published requirements for participation.

Google United Negro College Fund Scholarship The Google-UNCF Scholarship is awarded annually to a group of African-American students pursuing un-

dergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science or computer engineering. The program offers "last dol-

lar" scholarships based upon unmet financial need for students majoring in computer science or computer en-

gineering. Scholarship recipients will receive an academic scholarship as well as be invited to attend the An-

nual Google Scholars' Retreat in a Google office.

Jack and Jill African American Scholarships The Jack and Jill of America Foundation is committed to the ongoing positive development of African Amer-

ican youth and the development of future leaders. In addition, the Foundation provides personal, professional

and financial support to children in the areas of leadership skills training and development. Further, we are

engaged in education, mentoring, health & wellness, early childhood and economic development programs.

The Foundation promotes the preparation of succeeding generations of children as leaders so they may attain

the fullest potential as individuals, enjoy rewarding and fulfilling lives and contribute to world peace and

prosperity. The key to fulfilling this vision is through education. To this end, the Jack & Jill of America

Foundation is prepared to assist in funding African Americans’ pursuit of higher education.

APS Minority Scholarship Any African-American, Hispanic American, or Native American U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is

majoring or planning to major in physics, and who is a high school senior, college freshman, or sophomore is

eligible to apply for the scholarship. Engineering physics and applied physics majors also welcome to apply.

Goal: The APS Minority Scholarship helps increase the number of under-represented minorities obtaining

degrees in physics. The scholarship provides funding and mentoring to minority physics students, helping

them enhance their education and for successfully prepare for a variety of careers.

APIASF Scholarship Program

Eligibility Criteria:

Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census

Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Mar-

shall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply

Korean American Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate, graduate, and high school students enrolled full time during the scholarship application year.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Students with a Korean heritage studying in the United States regardless of citizenship status (including Ko-

rean Nationals).

If extra funds are available, other students (non-Korean) may qualify for some scholarships.

Asian Pacific Islander Organization The Asian Pacific Islander Organization (APIO) was established in 1998 as a Professional Society of Natural

Resources Conservation Service Employees. APIO promotes the belief that Asian Pacific Americans fill an

Upakar Foundation Scholarships Each year, the Upakar Foundation awards 20 scholarships to college bound Indian American students for a

Seed Foundation Scholarship The SEED Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 to provide scholarship opportunities for

Indian high school students. Since its inception, SEED has provided over $185,000 for continuing education.

Maria Elena Yuchengco Memorial Journalism Scholarship This scholarship was established in honor of Maria Elena Yuchengco, one of the founders of Filipinas Maga-

zine. There are three awards given in amounts of $1,000 to $3,000 for students wishing to pursue a career in

journalism.

The Tang Scholarship Mr. Edward C. Tang established this award in 2007 to provide financial assistance to lesbian, gay, bisexual

and trans gender (l/g/b/t) Asian and Pacific Islanders (API) for post-secondary education. This scholarship

awards up to two outstanding students annually, a combined scholarships totaling up to $15,000. These

scholarships are renewable for a maximum of three more years (a total of four years) provided each student

annually meets the renewal requirements.

LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) has considered education its number one priority

since it was established in 1929. As part of LULAC’s education efforts, the LULAC National Scholarship

Fund (LNSF) was established in 1975 to provide scholarships to Hispanic students attending colleges and uni-

versities. LULAC Councils will award scholarships to qualified Hispanic students who are enrolled or are

planning to enroll in accredited colleges or universities in the United States.

National Association of Hispanic Journalism (NAHJ) The National Association of Hispanic Journalists offers various scholarships to aspiring young Latino

or graduate students. The Ruben Salazar Scholarship Fund assists undergraduate students. The

Newhouse Scholarship Program is for college juniors and seniors majoring in print journalism. The

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI)- Scholarship Awards The CHCI Scholarship Awards are afforded to Latino students who have a strong commitment toward the La-

Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders The U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute began awarding scholarships in 1994 to assist Latino students in

for enrollment as full-time students in a four-year college or university in the U.S. or U.S. territories, and must

La Unidad Latina Foundation, Inc. La Unidad Latina Foundation awards scholarship grants to worthy and needy students for the pursuit of higher

Northrop Grumman/HENAAC Scholars Program HENAAC scholarship recipients continue to pave the way for future generations of Hispanics and lead by ex-

ample to empower our communities and enhance our nation’s professional technical workforce. Since its in-

ception thirteen years ago the HENAAC Scholars Program has experienced tremendous growth. In 2008,

Google Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship Google and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund have partnered to provide financial resources to high-performing

Latino undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in the field of computer science. Awards are

in the amount of $10,000 and are disbursed in fall 2013.

Awardees will be invited to attend Google's Scholars' retreat held in summer 2013 with all expenses paid.

Hmong American Education Fund

The Hmong American Education Fund (HAEF) is organized exclusively for nonprofit, charita-

Vang Pao Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is presented by the Hmong American Education Fund. The scholarship seeks to financially

cessful applicant will be awarded up to $2,500.00 to the choice of his or her college or university. ―To all stu-

dents out there,‖ said Dr. Paozeb Vang in a 1991 speech at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, ―remember

General Vang Pao. He’s a living proof that you can achieve as much as you want, and that the sky is the lim-

Minnesota Indian Scholarship Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program provides postsecondary financial assistance to eligible Minnesota

resident students who are of one-fourth or more Indian ancestry and demonstrate financial need for an

award. Scholarships are available to eligible Indian undergraduate students enrolled at least ¾ time and

graduate students enrolled at least half time.

The award amount is based on need up to $4,000 per year for undergraduate students and up to $6,000 for

graduate students. Students are eligible to receive scholarship funding for a maximum of ten years, five

years for undergraduate study and an additional five years for graduate-level study. Undergraduate students

seeking less than a four-year degree can receive a maximum of three years of scholarship funding in order to

preserve two years of eligibility to complete a four-year degree. Students may receive the scholarship for

only one degree per undergraduate educational level and one terminal degree.

Undergraduates Attending Non-Tribal Colleges The American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarships are awarded to students attending non-tribal

colleges. These scholarships are funded through our partnerships with corporate and private donors and are

available to American Indian/Alaska Native students attending mainstream universities who are pursuing

Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Scholarship Program Available to students enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education who are also a member of the

Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indians, this scholarship program awards up to $5,000 to local students based

Scholarships for Women The economy gets tough on occasion. When it does, many adults choose to return to school alongside graduat-

ing high school seniors. Both types of students enter higher education for one purpose: to better their chances

of getting a job that will help them through the hard times, or to get their dream job they have wanted to do for

most of their lives.

A major part of those students are female. Women represent over half the undergraduate class for Caucasians,

and 62% of African American undergrads, but any ethnicity has the same slant between women and men.

Some of these young ladies are fresh-faced eighteen-year-olds straight from high school with ambition to

change the world, but others may have had to put their lives on hold in order to raise a child. Some women

may be futhering their education at the graduate level too. This site provides women of all ages, sizes, and col-
